“Holy city” (or the “New Jerusalem,”) is used by John to represent those who keep the commandments of God; and in contrast, the city of Babylon is used throughout Revelation as those who do not.

Babylon was a city in ancient days and it was famous for worship to false gods. Today it is the world empire of false religion, embracing all religions whose teachings and practices do not conform to the true worship of Jehovah, the only true God. Following the Flood of Noah's day, false religion had its beginning at Babel (later know as Babylon) ( Gen. 10:8-10; 11:4-9) In time, Babylons religious beliefs and practices spread to many lands. So Babylon the Great became a fitting name for false religion as a whole.

Apparently it doesn't mean crap to the radical Muslims in Iraq. They spend too much time killing a lot of people and they could be discovering their past. What a thing!

I think that there might be something there that pertains to Daniel. He spent time there you know.
