Of course it all depends on what model...
Government? Pawn shops would probably be the best place. Id also suggest places like m1911.org or 1911forum.com or glocktalk.com. Many of those places have guns for sale by users and they are usually good deals.
Commander? See above.
Officers? These are getting harder to find. Id suggest gunbroker.com, auctionarms.com or gunsamerica.com

I got my Colt Government model 1911 45.acp for $690 and it was unfired and mint condition on consignment. Visit local gun shops that have consignment guns. You can pick up some great deals and it's like a treasure hunt when you walk in and see a great deal. I have 4 1911's and the Colt is my favorite. I see Colts on consignment about 2 or 3 every couple of months, so just keep checking your local shops. If you find one, check it out completely for rattles, rust or marks from not being cared for properly. Be willing to pass one up, because there will always be more.

Try www.auctionarms.com
I've had pretty good luck finding what I want there for decent prices.
Expect to pay about $600 to $800 for a standard Colt 1911.
The National Match and Gold Cup models will be higher yet.
You might want to look at the Taurus 1911, A brand new one will cost about $525. Nice gun for the money.

If you can settle for it not being a Colt, Smith & Wesson and Springfield readily sell 1911 models that are identical to Colt's original. Colt sells the original, and Springfield has the coolest take on the classic

I have seen used Colt 1991-A1 models in matte blue finish (with some surface wear) as low as $499 at gun shops. Be patient.

Go to a pawn shop. They rock. As long as the gun's tight, and the safeties work, (try to pull the trigger with safeties disengaged) just buy it. Most people don't shoot a gun enough to hurt it. I've got THOUSANDS of rounds through my Sig 220, and it only shows wear on the slide rails.

Why would you want a fake silencer? Grow up, kid. If you want to play cops and robbers get an airsoft gun. Real guns are not toys.
