depends on the terms of fulfillment,

if you needed to find the meaning of life to be fulfilled, then Charly was more fulfilled, if finding the meaning of life was merely an option and not a requirement to live a fulfilled life then I lived a more fulfilled life.

Charley and me went to school to learn. Charley all year studied hard while I became disinterested and looked out the window and day dreamed. At the end of the year, Charley got an A on his report card and I had to come back the next year to do it all over again because I had failed my task to learn my lessons. So it is with the meaning of your life. If you don't find it out, then maybe you will have to make it up again in another life time. If I have not found my meaning in life, then I would say that I have not looked hard enough for it.
I think a fulfilling life would be in the perception of the person who lived it and those who didn't care to look , depending on what they accomplished in life would look at it as fulfilling enough without finding their meaning in life. I think our meaning in life is to just live the one we have and to learn from it. I would say that a short life would not be as fulfilling as one where someone lived long enough to discover their gifts and use them to be fulfilled in life. My opinion is, neither had the opportunity to have fulfillment, but one at least had satisfaction of realizing his meaning in life.

that all depends on the person...in todays world, the meaning of life has many meanings...to some, charly would have been the better off, while to others i would have been...to some death has no fear while to others death holds all fear.
to me, i am not afraid to die...i have already been there, done that and know what awaits me. also, i know what the meaning of life is. also, i know WHO i am. life is no mystery to me. so to me...charly was lucky. but until one finds the meaning of life, it is better to live.

We don't know exactly what the meaning of life is. But most religions in the world say that the answer is out there, we just don't fully know it. But through revelations from god, we have some glimpses of what that meaning is.

Are you in the 10th grade? I remember reading Flowers for Algernon in the 10th grade.

And Charly was an imbecile until they drugged him up, too.

Whatever it is, only you can decide for yourself.
For example for Socrates it was: An unexamined life is not worth living. Meaning you must not waste your life in pursuits that which will not bring you happiness.

The biological purpose is to make more life. But people can choose their own meaning; Carl Sagan said: "If you want your life to have significance, do something significant."
