Why do people on Y.A. insist on confusing Catholic, with Roman Catholic.?

Are you Catholic? There is the original Roman Catholic Church which was built in Rome by Peter the first Pope whom Christ Himself appointed when He told Peter "You are a rock and upon this rock I will build my Church" then there is the Greek Orthodox church which is also Catholic but broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and has it's own Bishop. In recent times the two Catholic Churches have discussed the possibility of healing the Chasms between the two. Of course some people can claim to be Catholic but aren't really living the faith. But then again you have that in many christian sects. A true Catholic would say they are Roman Catholic.

Yes, they are pretty much the same. They both still pray to Mary and other saints and they still have the same traditions. I attended a Roman catholic church when I was young and lived in England. In the US I noticed it was all the same. I was born and raised catholic until I renounced the catholic religion almost 2 years ago. I did it because I did not believe in some of the teachings that go on in the catholic religion. I am now a born again, Bible believing Christian. It's the way the word is used. Not much of those who I talk to refer to anything else when the word is brought up. Even Roman Catholics call themselves Catholic.

Sorry if it bothers you, but maybe you could have been here sooner to sway things in another direction.

By the way, I wouldn't subscribe to the Niceen Creed or the Apostles Creed because of that word being in there. I hate not the RC's ( Romans Catholics) but there inner parts. That interior of their religion. I am so polarized against the word Catholic ( yes I know, it means universal) that you might as well say 'Hitler'.

Sorry if that offends anyone, but that's just because I believe what happened according to John Foxe, and what will happen according to Revelation.

If you insist as per the dictionary The Catholic Church IS the Roman Catholic.

1. In common parlance the term most often refers to the members, beliefs, and practices of the Catholic Church (Roman Catholic Church) that is in full communion with the Pope

2. The Eastern Catholic particular Churches include the Ukrainian, Greek, Greek Melkite, Maronite, Ruthenian Byzantine, Coptic Catholic, Syro-Malabar, Syro-Malankara, Chaldean, and Ethiopic Rites.

3. The Eastern Orthodox Church also identifies as Catholic, as in the title of The Longer Catechism of the Orthodox, Catholic, Eastern Church.

Great point! Catholic means universal, Roman catholic is the religion of lies that have spewed out of Rome since 300 ad.

I am a christian and of the catholic(universal) church that Christ established. I just don't agree one iota with Roman Catholicism.
