Not only are both Onion and Garlic tasty, they are good for your health. Garlic is good for your heart if I recall correctly and onion is good for your blood pressure. May be the other way around but they both help the heart and or BP.
There is a big business selling garlic tablets for health. The side benefit with garlic is that it has a tendency to keep mosquitoes from biting you. Both of these items leave the body via sweat and skin so most people will smell it coming from you as well as your breath.
There are other alternatives to spicing or herbing your food up some. Hot peppers are also beneficial for your health and supposedly reduce the chance of heart attack.
Nothing says you have to use it to cook with and if you don't like it, I certainly wouldn't use it. There are at least 100 herbs and spices that would be useful for cooking. Enjoy what you like. Follow you own desires. Bon Appetite

Salt is "nasty" all by itself. So is pepper, vinegar, flour, cornstarch, etc. etc. The list goes on. The purpose is to augment the taste of food. However, it's still subjective, and what's "nasty" to one person may be delicious to another. For example, I don't like horseradish, but a lot of other people do.

Many condements are nasty tasting by themselves. If you eat salt straight it's not good either.
That's why condements, spices and herbs are ADDED to OTHER food and not eaten separately!

Nasty???
You must have been born without taste buds!
I hate to tell you this, but look at the ingredients of all your favorite snacks---garlic powder and/or onion powder is there.
If you eliminate those two seasonings from your diet, you'll eat nothing but BABY food.
DUH!
