Beer does spoil. Most comercial brands are pasturized. If kept cold this will take longer(the spoiling). As to if it fizzes it is good that is wrong that has to do with the bottle seal holding in CO2.And if it is skunky that has to do with it being exposed to light (green wavelength).
The only way to find out is to open and taste them.In any case even if spoiled it cannot harm you.

I have 3 Heinekens in my fridge left over from a party 2 years ago. At this point I think they would be good for soaking some brats in. Or maybe making some beer bread. They are also keeping company with 2 Shiner Bocks and 1 Fosters. Those are from last summer. They will probably get more to join them this summer. If I passed them out at the next party... would anyone know?

Hi! Beer is a foodstuff. As with most foodstuffs, beer is perishable-it deteriorates as a result of the action of bacteria, light, and air. However, unlike other food products, packaged beer is not legally mandated to carry a "sell by" date.
Typically, the freshness period for a lager is four months; for stronger craft-brewed ales, five months. High-gravity, high-strength beers such as doppelbocks typically carry a six- to twelve-month freshness period. All of the preceding assumes proper handling of the beer, the right cooling temp. and no direct sun light. So my suggestion just take no chance and throw them away!! It wouldnt cost a fortune to refill but take no risk with ur health! Best of luck!

Ummm...it won't kill ya if ya drink it but it might give ya a tummy ache.
The box where they came in or (if u dont have the box) On the bottle their should be an Expiration Date. Also if it's a bottle if you open it up and theirs a little rust going on around the part were you'd sip from...thats another little sign that it might not be so good.

well
if theyre still in the box/pack you bought them in, it will have either the expiration or born on date, and although 8 months is kinda pushing it, they might still be good. im assuming theyre bottles, which dont last as long as cans. but the best thing to do is crack one open and give it a try.
and if you dont want them,
send em this way. =)
