this isn't really a sin, just being strange

sinning is when you give into wrong desires. that was technically wrong because thoughts lead to plans and plans lead to actions. a person who has a pocket knife in an airport can still be charged can't they? it's potential

I doubt you were sinning. again, giving into wrong desires. I don't think you were actually giving into a desire to deface someone else's property. I think you just had a random, foolish thought

Hiya queenofyack;
Oh, Goody! A sin question. With an ADD sub-question!! Have I died and gone to heavan??!
Let's me take a crack at it.

Q: "How is this a sin?"
A: The actual act might be a sin for some; or even most , but your thoughts weren't.
Q: "How are thoughts sins when they just pop into your head like that?"
A: They aren't. You're imaginative and young.
Q: "How does one control their thoughts?"
A: When you know who you are, what you are capable of, and where you are going (accept a purpose and direction in life), you will exert a greater degree of control over the things you think about. It's okay that you're thinking sporadic thoughts. We do when we're young (and even when we're old sometimes...). It's also very good that it concerns you and has prompted you to inquire about them. Perfect and normal.
Q: "If they can't control them how are they sinful?"
A: You've almost answered the question yourself. If you could control it, and didn't, then maybe it could be sinful... God is very understanding when it comes to sin. You have already been forgiven for any sin that you recognize that you did, regret doing, and stopped. ANY. None should be ashamed for not having known better at any particular time. Not one who has ever lived shall be held accountable for any sin they might have committed so long as they repent (recognize that it was wrong and stop doing it). God doesn't expect you to not make mistakes. In fact, it's an inevitability. But it's desirable that we recognize the wisdom in not repeating those mistakes in perpetuity: To acknowledge their folly and turn from them.

As for the ADD, I was once labeled as having ADD/ADHD.
There's something going on there, for sure. The psychologists see something... without a doubt. Life is more challenging when the mind is so active and sporadic. There are ways to find peace; preventative measures. Eating healthy, being active / exercising, getting sunlight in moderation, being properly hydrated, taking on activities and hobbies to occupy your mind... studying things you're interested in to work your mind... to express your love/soul, learning how to organize your time and internal / external environments... When you control your unique self - instead of it controlling you - your being will become more stable and at peace... enabling you to great freedom and adventure... and joy. Unending joy, really, in a universe of unlimited potential.

Your friend in Love,
wayne

Sin or no Sin, it's illegal to go into a store and damage goods that are NOT YOURS! If you buy the marshmallows you can do whatever you want with them!.......You better learn to control your thoughts before they control you, or you may be sitting in jail like P'AS Hilthong...oops that thought just popped into my head.....!!!!...

You did not sin when the thought popped into your head. You were tempted to stab the mellows but you did not succomb to the temptation. Remember being tempted is not sin. It is the doing of it that is sin. Now that of course does not count for lust of the eys or lust of the flesh. When you covet material things or lust after someones body that is sin. You can control you thoughts by focusing on things that are good.... Paul said to the Philippians in Chapter4: verse 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

God bless

It sounds like you may be suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

These thoughts often take a religious twist and people with OCD often feel as though these thoughts are sinful.

There is a book you may want to look into:
"Tormenting Thoughts and Secret Rituals", Ian Osborn, M.D.

Sounds like you're of Catholic upbringing. Catholics have some silly ideas.
You have no control over thoughts that just pop into your head. You do have control over dwelling on thoughts and fantisizing.

It wouldbe wrong in most people's minds to actually stab the bags of marshmallows- not to mention against the law....but the mere thought? Please cut yourself some slack!
