I asked a question earlier about God and recieved about 30 different answers as to how to worship and serve him. How can this be? There is but one God and the same road to him one would think would be universal.

Just as God has a way for us, satan also wants us to think there is another way. We sometimes try and justify things we want to do or believe and therefore we incorporate them into our belief system. There is only 1 way to god, and that is through Jesus. However, there are other counterfeit religions out there that try and tell you otherwise. So much conflict almost insures us to be hateful to others of different religions and to most likely follow something else or be terribly confused inside. My advice to you is sit and pray. Meditate, find the answers that are written in your heart, your true heart. Just as God wrote his word in nature he also whispers it on our hearts so we can search deep enough and know what is right. Read your bible also, just know that sometimes it doesn't make sense to us, for 1 reason or another, just keep praying and searching! Do not look for a belief that justifies your way of life, look for something that makes you pure and whole!

Long ago before we understood what caused thunderstorms and the real world physical explanation was far beyond our comprehension yet we still saw the lightning and heard the thunder and felt the rain and we knew there had to be a reason for it. We didn’t know the reason and it hurt not to know; it felt like a huge gaping hole in us somewhere. It’s there and it’s awesome and we don’t understand it but something must cause it. That thing must be an awesome power to create such a thing as thunder and lightning and water falling from the air.

And so people created their own explanations for it all. Different people had different explanations for the same things due to differing location and good old human individuality so there became different religions. First it was polytheism. It started out with a god for each unanswerable question but the questions became too many and so with time religions simplified into monotheism. And so God was born from man in our own image to be our universal answer.

When it comes to religion there is so much out there to choose from that people just find what works for them or stick with what they've been taught. Some people don't believe in God at all. Some believe in multiple gods. And when it comes to Christians who believe in the same God, there is so many discrepancies because people have changed or created different denominations to conform to their beliefs. Basically religion is just what works best for each individual. U just have to be accepting and open to other's beliefs.

That's a mistaken assumption, sir. The Divine, the sentient aspect of the Universe, conforms to our expectations. Therefo, any way to the Divine is just as good as any other way. Saying there is only One Way is an extremist notion, is it not? If spirituality exists and is a part of human nature, then it exists for all humans and not just one particular way of connecting with the Divine. If you say all religions are fake except for yours, this is another extreme notion. Reality is more about moderate notions. Extreme ones are much less likely to be true. That is logical, isn't it?

One of many reasons I don't follow religion. Millions of people following remnants from a time when people knew nothing about the world around them, and used fictional stories to explain everything. Were any of it true (and I won't deny there's a remote possibility some of it could be), you would think there would only be one religion. Being all-powerful, you have to wonder how God doesn't manage to clarify at least enough that everyone can agree on what he wants. And yet, you point this out to any believer, and what will they say? "God did make everything clear. Everyone who doesn't agree with me isn't listening to him." Yeah, nice. And everyone who doesn't agree with you, says the same thing about you.

You are right, that there is one true God and one way to enter into a personal relationship with Him.
However, there is also an enemy of God, who likes to deceive people away from God, that is Satan.

Even among the followers of Jesus, there are many different denominations and opinions. I like what, I think it was Augustine, said: "In the essentials unity, in the non-essentials liberty."

Then what you found is that there is yes, one GOD, but many paths. As people are very different, cultures are different, societies and communities differ, so do beliefs, even if all under one umbrella.

why?...there is no 'thing', no subject on earth you can make that claim about. why should god be any different? there are as many ways to worship a deity as there are cultures on the planet each with its own beliefs and customs...after all, variety IS the spice of life right?

You would think.
But really, your first mistake was that you called God him. As above, so below .
Perhaps the one God is equal parts of the many, because it really isn't a party unless everyone gets to go.
