I recently sent my resume over the internet using Resume Delivery and I believed a scam (for a few days).
After doing some homework on Nigeria Internet scams, I see that this too is a scam. (I was told to cash checks for this company and the person emailing me-NEVER gave me his name.)
I have NOT cashed any checks, both are sitting here-waiting. I was told from a friend--to shred the bogus checks. I went on line and reported this to the DOJ and to the FBI and to another website-about 419 internet scams.
I read on the FBI website that I should keep all hard copies of evidence that is why I am not trashing the bogus checks.
The person that was emailing me now is stating that he will report ME to the FBI. He said today in an email that the CIA will be at my door on Monday morning. Everyone in America knows that Monday is a holiday in America--Memorial Day.
Again, I lost no money.
Is he using scare tatics? Should I keep his emails as evidence too?

I can't remember who asked me, but--yes-this internet scam was for me to take 10% (which would be $ 70.00) and then I would send back the remaining which was $ 630.00....this scum bag also first told me that all Western Union fees would be paid by "the company" .then he changed his mind and said that I'd have to pay for the fee-which is $56.00. I
I'm glad I didn't cash the checks.

It has to be a lie, since the CIA does not investigate anything in the US. Only the FBI would do that, and they would not even do that for you not cashing or giving the checks back, they would merely have to contact the local police. They want the checks back so there is no evidence
Yes keep everything, also contact the local police, ( since to be honest the FBI gets 1000's of email reports.

Tell him fine you have no problem showing these checks to the CIA, the FBI or any policeman because you have done nothing wrong.
Scare tactics but even if he was foolish enough to do that all you would have to do is show them those bogus checks.
I lost $2500 in the Nigerian check scam you are talking about.Deposited thier check and took out the 10% well the bank said the check had to clear so i used my own money!!
Of course the check bounced and I was out the 10% . So hold on to the checks and dont let him scare you-you did nothing wrong.

Scare tactics and you have done the right thing by not depositing those checks. You would more than likely be left high and dry. He can threaten you all he wants. He does not have a leg to stand on unless he can prove he is legit but this smells that he definitely is not. Let HIM know he has been reported to the same authorities he has threatened you with. watch him crawl away like the cockroach he is. Let him know you are no fool, the CIA can't operate within our borders here so he is a jackass.
Make hard copies and call the FBI first thing on Tuesday. Let them know what is happening and make an appointment with your local FBI office to provide them the checks. Also make notarized copies for yourself as well. This will add to the charges they will have for this slimebag.

Keep any and all evidence you have. How can he say when the CIA would be at your door? Like they would tell him first? Give me a break ~ lol Law enforcement doesn't work that way so he's definitely trying to scare you.
I'm so glad you did not take your friends bad advice !! Make copies of what you have and set up a folder for yourself, then make copies and make a report at your local police department, giving them copies of everything you have. Try to keep the originals for your own files if possible.
Hopefully the FBI can find out who is behind this and prosecute this guy. Heaven knows how many others buckled under and then wouldn't report it.

Keep the emails as evidence, absolutely. They make millions of dollars every year off unsuspecting people, and feel no remorse. They threaten you if you try to turn them in, but fact is you've done nothing wrong, and you wont get into any trouble. I'm sure you've seen as this is tuesday that the FBI didn't come pounding down your door. Keep everyhting the man gives you, and turn it all over to the authorities. Also take a look at some others this has happened to..

first off do not handle the checks, place them in an envelope and wait for the authorities, (to preserve fingerprints if any. If you were tio cash these checks you would be liable for the WHOLE amount plus any fines the bank or courts levy. as far as the CIA or FBI showing up tell your friend that you look forward to seeing them. You are not alone as far as being scammed like this, one misguided woman was scammed out of 210 thousand dollars!. Law Enforcement agencies here and internationally are working to stop this type of crime.

He is using scare tactics. The CIA is not supposed to operate in the US. It doesn't make sense to be threatening you for NOT cashing checks.
You didn't say if you were supposed to send money back to this person usually the check scam is they send you a check and ask you to return some portion of it and the check they sent you bounces and you are out the money you sent back.

You should laugh at him. The CIA can only operate outside of the US. Tell him that you have contacted the FBI and made a report already so there is no need for him to do so.
Good Luck

Keep everything and make hard copies of everything. Not only can these scam artists make frighteningly exact looking copies of emails and websites of legitimate companies, but they are not beneath intimidating someone into being their victim.

Save the emails and do not respond to this person. This person is trying to intimidate you. Do not deposit those checks. Block this person from sending you emails.
