June’s popularity may well date back to the early Romans, as June was named for Juno, the goddess of women and marriage. Then there's the song "June Bride" from the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" ... "For they say if you marry in June, you will always be a bride." Blah, blah, blah! Many people seem to plan their wedding around what's convenient for their guests. June's usually pretty easy for people with kids since the kids are out of school. The weather's usually better than the rest of the year and depending on where you're at, it's not too hot or too cold.

This might be far off.....but I always thought it had something to do with mating.
Obviously, as humans we mate year-round....but you realize spring is 'wedding season' and it is ALSO well known as the season for break-ups.
Women get all weird with the case of 'baby blues' around this time of year, and will break off a relationship that is less than stellar to find a better companion, perhaps one that they would better mate with. This is more on a subconsious level...because most women will say they aren't looking to have a baby, just more a natural reaction. And getting married in June, and getting pregnant on your wedding night, then you won't be BIG and pregnant with the hot flashes in the hot, hot months, it will be held off until the colder months....which is more convenient, lol.
I remember when I was little I had this strange obsession with the musical 'seven brides for seven brothers' and there is a song in that and they sing 'if you marry in June, you'll always be a bride'.....maybe I should look that up, I don't remember the words to the song....but maybe it says more in the verses, lol.

I think that the June bride has something to do with American romanticism and centered around history in that it was a time where no crops needed anything to be done. During this time it was hot and muggy and past the time of putting out seeds and there were little crops to harvest. This became the celebration time, thus weddings prevailed.
Now, couple this tradition with American sensationalism and you have a whole hype and capitalism of an industry of the June bride. Most things cost more wedding-wise during that month alone.

Personally, I live in Michigan and our weather can be tricky. July and August run the risk of being hot and very, very humid. Not the best climates if you're in a wedding dress. April can be nice, but snow isn't out of the question and it tends to rain a lot. I'm not sure why May isn't chosen as much. Maybe because June tends to be warmer.

Logically, in latin the word June derived from Juno- the goddess of marriage. Hence the terms june wedding, june bride. Normally, because the weather is great, the environment is alive with beautiful color, more flowers available, and many more reasons.

Reasons to get married in June:
1. It is warm enough for outdoor weddings
2. But, it's not in the middle of summer... so you aren't sweating like a pig at the altar
3. More flower selection
4. More venues tend to open up in the summer time (this make be because it's such a popular season...)
5. Most wedding dresses are sleeveless or strapless, so they are better for the summer
6. In american culture, the summer is a laid-back and romantic time of year...
7. Bridesmaids' dresses tend to be in colors that are more appropriate for weddings (pastel colors)
8. Less of a chance of bad weather (i.e. rain, snow, hail, etc.)
Just some ideas =)

June is a popular month because the weather is just perfect. The rainy season is over and it is not 100 degrees out (in most places) just yet. Everything is still in full bloom.
I am only getting married in June because it was just after when I was going to graduate. Graduating in December now. Haha.

The custom of the "June bride" came about when it was customary for girls to marry as soon as they graduated from high school, in the late 40's and throughout the 50's. The wedding would be in June, soon after graduation. My mother-in-law, who married in 1942, married in April, and remembers the custom of June weddings beginning. That custom remains now when many choose to marry soon after graduation form college.

The reason has less to do with nice weather and more to with an ancient Roman goddess named ---- Juno.
Most people don't know this and pick June for the month to get married, because of the nicer weather. More people are able to take vacations with out having to worry about bad weather, etc. and are able to attend the wedding.
Juno was the Roman goddess of marriage. For this reason, many Romans chose to honor her by tying the knot in June. Like a lot of traditions, this one stuck.

Hm. I don't know. I guess cause it's nice weather in the northern hemisphere. Warm, but not too hot, yet. It's a total coincidence that I'm marrying in June. It was just the soonest we could do it! It also works well with school holidays, so that probably has something to do with it as well.
