at all to conform to your religion?

Absolutely not - if you know something is truth then it would be degrading to compromise.

Aren't we just getting some wonderful questions on here? I love this one.

I'm not sure that compromise is the word I'd use. Wouldn't that imply that I thought my principles were better than my religion's teachings? I dunno.
Certainly I don't think, believe or act the way I used to, but I don't see that so much as a compromise as an improvement.
There again, I used to be a *******, while other people probably start by being pretty good anyway.

Yes, I do occasionally sacrifice my personal principles to conform to the principles in my religion. For instance, when I realised that my personal belief in being honest and open about everything was conflicting with the religious principles of love and tolerance. As a result of giving up a portion of my love for complete disclosure, I learned the principle of tact.

I believe it is sometimes necessary to rewrite your personal principles when you realise that they are not in line with spiritual truths.

P.S. I'm still learning!

My personal principles are to harm none, to live in the real world and not made up drama, and they are the same as my spiritual principles, so there really is no need to conform. If I compromise being real or if I harm someone, it makes me exceedingly uncomfortable, and I rectify the situation ASAP.

My personal principles and beliefs are my religion...my spirituality and how i maintain it.
So, no....my integrity lies with strict adherence to my personal beliefs, and part of that is remaining loving and tolerant of all views...even the ones i do not agree with.
And having the ability of being open-minded enough to realize that i just don't know it all....there is something to be learned in each and every situation!

No. I have a personal relationship with God and He is interested in every area of my life. I can talk everything over with Him and He gives me the wisdom on how to live my life to it's fullest potential. He also gives me guidelines and warnings if I am about to go off the right track.
It's wonderful to have the Creator of the universe as my personal Friend, who loves me immensely.

I find it difficult to follow the biblical advice 'to live in peace' in regard to political and secular matters, and to remain seperate from the world...

On the one hand I feel it is my responsibility to be a righteous member of a participatory society, and stand against societal evils when they directly affect me - that sort of makes it 'my turn'...

On the other hand I am called to submission to secular authority and 'peace'.

I have never worked out this conflict, and I doubt that I ever will work it out. I participate in political society where I feel I must, and avoid it when I do not feel I must.

No...but then nothing in my religion requires me to do so either. My spiritual beliefs are my personal principles.

My religion conforms me not to lesson my beliefs by what man thinks I ought to live.

No, not at all. I am happy and find much peace and a sense of belonging in my religion. I compromise nothing to practice my religion properly.
