Markyyy, I dunno if you knew this, but Steve was also there. The verse that talks about Steve was omitted. Adam's love to Eve is compared to his love to Steve. Steve also ate from the tree too because Adam tempted him to. I thought you were more knowledgeable than this ;-)

Interesting questions Markyyy
I think Adam truly loved Eve.
thinking about all families today and throughout history - every one of them has had problems of some sort - no matter how much the parent's loved each other.
Neither Adam or Eve had any example except God to demonstrate His love for them. That's pretty good odds I'd say.
blessings :)

There are so many "arranged" marriages in this world that are not based on love. They've never even met each other until their wedding day.
And, as we all know, the feeling of "being in love" dies off in any marital relationship if the relationship lasts for an extended amount of time.
Love and marriage are two different things. Marriage is about the family. We start those families because we "fall in love". People who leave the family unit because they "are no longer in love" are very selfish and only thinking of themselves and not the family unit.
True love is still (or leaning to love) loving someone without or when the feeling of "being in love" dies.
That does not mean you have to or are constantly arguing. It just means that you have become best friends with benefits.

Not to mention the fact that he blamed the whole thing on Eve the first chance he got. NOT a good ideaif (1) you happen to like nookie and (2) there's only one woman on earth.
Seriously, I didn't even think of the Cain-Abel indicator. You'd think loving parents would create a loving family, and yeah I know there are exceptions, but not usually to the point of murder....!

The question should be: Since Eve was made from Adam's rib was it love or self-love?

Marriage in those times was not about love. Asking about romantic love is imposing our cultural norms on this text from a very different historical and cultural context.

Will this question or the answers bring a person closer to GOD ?
Does the question point the way to JESUS CHRIST ?
If you cannot possibly get a true and final answer, then why ask the question ?

thats a good question....makes ya kinda think....my opinion is he probably did feel something for her since she was the only other human till they had kids...he just followed his heart that God gave him...remember God made us in his image and if God is love it stands to reason that we would just know when we were in love
