find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Read the South Beach Diet Book and read about low-carb diets such as Adkins. It is an amazing way to lose weight. I lost 4 inches in my waste in 2 months with this diet. I lost 26 pounds and really didn't feel like I was dieting. My LDL went down. My HDL went up. My total cholesterol went down to 160. It is an amazing diet, but I have to admit it is a life style change as well. You can never go back to eating many carbs such as bread and potatoes and pastas, but you can eat as much protein as you like.

Give it a try by reducing your total daily carbohydrate intake to less than 50 grams per day for 60 days. The easiest way to count carbs is to purchase an inexpensive carb counting book by Dell books.

Just watch your carbs and watch the fat dissolve away.

Diet and cardio are the easiest ways to lose fat in the mid section. Golf and walking are not high intensity enough. Try running, eliptical work, or swimming. Push yourself...if you dont you wont see good results. Also try to clean up your diet one step at a time. Little steps are the best way to go. Make one positive change a week.

If you drink water instead of sodas, no sodas, eat chicken with no skin if you don't like fish, lots of fruits and veggies for snacks, with your exercise that you get you will notice a change real fast. If everyone who drinks sodas stopped just that, think of the weight loss. I don't like dieting so this is what I do
