Is that not the stupidest and most confusing thing in the history of stupid and confusing things?!?! A friend of ours is an atheist who comes from Japan; she recently encountered that line of what I will generously call thinking. Her poor head was swimming! I tried my best to explain it to her, and she shook her head and said, "Of course you needed to stop that church."

Christianity is more about relationship than religion - that is, with the exception of some of the old, mainline denominations who have made a religion out of it.
But, atheism could be considered a religion. They worship science, self and humanism. Now, nothing wrong with science, as long as it results in fact or truth. Nothing wrong with considering yourself, once in a while. And, humanity is to be cared for and respected.
But, the religiosity of it makes science (a whole lot of theory, at that) a god, the substance and alleged power of self a god, and humanism a god as well. They bow down to each of these (spending time, money and effort to enhance, practice, promote, etc.), which is worship, thereby making atheism an actual religion.
I hold no disrespect toward atheists. It is a shame they haven't seen God in all their scientific endeavor, but they are industrious and tenacious - a few Christians could use recalling these qualities.

who says christianity isn't a religion, of course it is! atheism shouldn't be considered a religion however cuz who is there to worship? every other religion has a certain figure to look up to, but atheism lacks that.

lets see,
religion has dogma attached to it, what about atheism:
can an atheist be pro life
what about prayer in school?
how about if he feels evolution and creationism shouldn't be taught in school?
would an atheist be considered an atheist if he sided with Christians on some points?
in my opinion, I stress my opinion, I think other atheists would be angry if one of their own wanted prayer in school.
So, yes, atheism does have some dogma.
But what about praying to a deity?
none, zada, zilch.
Atheism is more like an organization with values implied rather then enforced.
So,no it isn't
God Bless

This could be the start of a non-trend:
Atheism is a religion / Christianity is not a religion.
Wall Street is not a financial powerhouse / Visiting DisneyWorld is work.
Et cetera ad headspin.

No. There are no churches for atheists, and though they are beginning to preach the good word more openly, they don't congregate, or receive tax benefits as a group.
They aren't unified, or organized, and don't believe in religion. They believe in a lack of religion.
There is nothing holding them together except the title and a lack of a belief in something.
We are all atheists when it comes to Zues, but we dont get together and pray to the lack of a zues, we just ignore him altogether.

No. Atheism is the non belief in god/s. Christianity is certainly a belief (personal relationship notwithstanding) in at least one god. Belief in at least one god is religion.
