and then, read other successive historic accounts of bible compilation. people don't realize that a pagan roman emperor is the person who led a council to determine whether or not jesus was to be considered human or divine (it was determined by a vote 300 years after he died! LOL...) and it was a pagan emperor (constantine) leading the council!! it was also this sort of council which edited and compiled the bible, ultimately throwing out over 200 books of the bible, which they voted against.
xians hate hearing about this sort of true history regarding their cult book.

Jesus quoted the old testament scriptures and affirmed the law and prophets and writings. The fact that prophecies in the Bible are accurate which is proof that it is inspired by God. Archeology finds such as the Moabite Stone, the Lachish Letters, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Cyrus' Cylinder, and the Rosetta Stone confirm the Bible's accuracy. The Bible does not contradict itself even though there were 44 different authors over a 1500 year period....that in itself is evidence of inspiration. The greatest evidence of the Bible's inspiration is in the changes of those people who study it. One other evidence is the fact that it has survived all these years and that people died to protect it. What other book ever has had this kind of inpact?
The way the decision was made as to which books made up the Bible were these things:
1) Whether the author was an apostle or had a close connection with an apostle.
2) Was the book accepted by the Body of Christ at large?
3) Did the book contain consistency in doctrine and orthodox teaching?
4) Did the book bear evidence of high moral and spiritual values that would reflect a work of the Holy Spirit?

I can only sum it up like this (no offense). There is a type of thought present in humans which rejects the possibility of a mind or intelligence other than itself and so must deceive itself into a state of belief which would not allow thought to touch spiritual truth as true. A leap of faith would appear to be absurd and will continue to appear this way until dark thoughts start parting with themselves, in a normal path of self-destruction. The bottom line is that the human mind hates God, truth, and the spiritual idea, Christ.

Actually, there is strong evidence that the decision on what was to be included in the New Testament was made by the original Apostles, not centuries later by an apostate church. And God left the authority for the Old Testament Scriptures in the hands of the Jews; again, not in the hands of an ungodly group who had already demonstrated that they are unwilling to obey the Words of God. So, the false premise of your question makes the rest irrelevant.
So, my trust is not in those men that you mention, but in God who inspired those Words and chose faithful people who obey him.

Yes there were many writings that were rejected by church councils in the third and fourth century, for instance the apocropha( i think thats how you spell it). these books were rejected because they did not jive with the old testament or new testament. Jesus said in the last days, there would be many who would not tolerate sound doctrine. so I think that questioning the veracity and completeness of the canon of scripture is just that!

"Those people" were the bishops of God's own Church, the Catholic Church, who were in possession of divine promises - "whatsoever you bind upon earth is bound in heaven"; he who listens to you listens to Me"; and "the Holy Spirit will guide you to all truth". These were promises made not only to the leaders of God's Church, but to the Church as a whole - all of us. Did God lie in making these promises? If not, then I am fully convinced that the 73 inspired texts they chose under the guidance of the Holy Spirit were precisely the ones God wanted to be included in the Bible. The Holy Spirit would not allow it to be otherwise.

my understanding is paul and emperor constintine had the power at the time the bible was put into book form, they choose the information that would apease and control the masses. Everything else was burned.
I totally understand your frustration with the christian religion, it is like they are all lemmings,( I was one once myself) I was challenged to read the whole bible (king james version) about 10 years ago. I read the whole book I am no longer christian. The atrosities the god of the old testament created, allowed or promoted was too much for me to continue to believe that could be the same god of love the preacher professed to exist. I believe in a god of unconditional love that created our souls with free will (not humans) in his likeness. many souls could not bear to leave fathers side for the loss of love. many souls went out and returned to share their adventures. Some souls rebeled wanted to be a god themselves. This place (earth system) WAS CREATED FOR THE SOUL TO MAKE ITS FINAL CHOICE. Do they really want to be a "little God and live in dominion=lordship over others. or return to father of love/fellowship/joy/sharing/ab... bliss.
What if heaven and hell are exactly the same except for one difference? What ever you picture in your head heaven to be, imagine hell to be the same except for one difference. Everything you can do in heaven you can do in hell except for one difference. The difference is love or dominion. If you choose love you are in heaven, you are sharing love/joy/fellowship, absolute bliss in all you do.
If you choose dominion you are in hell, everyone will be dominion bent, acting without regard to anything but personal pleasure, personal gain, exercising power over others. Everyman for himself in all that is done. Everything else is the same.
Now which path do/will you choose? LOVE or DOMINION
P.S. Doesn't hell feel a lot like earth?
P.S. S. If you choose dominion click on exit, there is nothing here for you.

The bible was written by men. It is not literal truth and every minister, pastor, priest will tell you this.
There are important messages in the bible for us to hold and that is all.

Don't you think that maybe God had a hand in guiding those who canonized scripture. There was a big stink about it recorded for all of history to read about. Just like there is a big stink about it now. You could canonize your own scripture I guess. Good luck to you.
