I prefer charcoal myself, but it all depends upon your patience level.

Propane...food is almost done
Charcoal...food will be ready in another hour
Smoker....awe geeeeez, is the food ready yet? Is Mcdonalds' still open?

Good Luck

Real wood charcoal! Propane gives a flavor to meat that is horrible. I can taste the difference between a burger grilled over charcoal vs. one grilled on a gas grill, even blindfolded. I can smell and taste the gas. Ick.

I think food cooked on a charcoal grill tastes best, and my favorite grill is the Big Green Egg. Can be used as a smoker too. Awesome grill, but kind of expensive (and worth it!). You can cook pizza and bake bread with it too.

I have both a gas grill and a charcoal grill. I like the flavor of the charcoal grill better, however.

I usually like the charcoal grills cuz it's got that classic cookout taste. However, Propane is cleaner.

My dad has the propane kind, but personally, I think the charcoal kind has a lot more flavor to it, but that is just me.

get both charcoal for the weekend propane for week nights
charcoal has the best flavor but takes longer, propane is fine but the flavor is lacking, dont use pre-soak coal, use a chimmey starter for your coals and use hardwood coal for better flavor.
