You would most likely burn more calories biking, because you are using more muscles. Also, the biking would tone your leg muscles much more than walking would. In order to be healthier, I would cut out most of the carbs. You need a few, but not too many.

One book that I have found very helpful over my 40 years of dieting, is the one about Eat By your Blood type.I'm sure you could go to amazon.com and seek it out and read a bit about it. I even paid $48 to find out my blood type and it is true that certain foods are better digested and all for my body and help me lose weight. and on the walking bike issue, consider that you can walk anytime anywhere, so it is easier to become a habit and I've seen people and they have lost tons of weight and I say,how did you do that and they were just walking and started loving walking which is much much better for you than running. Remember, when you are riding a bike, you are sitting down and the bike is carrying part of your weight. When you are walking your body is doing all the work

First, biking three miles will benefit you more than walking 3 miles, because it works your ENTIRE leg more.

Second, don't focus on the "cut outs" of eating. Focus on what you SHOULD be eating. Eat more fruits, vegies, and healthy snacks. Drink lots of milk and water, especially how you get dehydrated easily from excercising daily.

Lastly, if you want to get your "butt" toned and higher, do lunges. Lunges are when you take steps, and put one knee close to the floor, like kneeling on one knee. Then do the other, walk around and do lunges. It's just like kneeling while walking, except bringing your knees lower. That's the best way =D

Good luck.

Walking is a great way to burn calories if you are just getting into shape. If you have the money for a gym, I really recommend taking step aerobic classes. I have done a lot of different workouts, and step aerobics has burned the most calories and been the most enjoyable.

Biking burns more calories, and I think that walking is great for toning your legs, especially if you go uphill. As far as I know that and squats are better for your lower body than biking.
