I can name the source.
And I can conclusively say that I believe in no higher power. Caring about other people has nothing to do with being illogical.

Why do you want to make anyone's life a certain way anyway? At the end of the day, it's up to the individual as to what they make of their life. Events do happen that can radically change one's life... for good or bad... but it's up to that person to decide how s/he is going to handle it.
And speaking personally, I'm too busy caught up in my own life to even worry about making someone else miserable or happy.
I think the question posed has more to do with an inborne ability to know right from wrong, regardless of a religious disposition. I think it's an inherent trait in most animals. Think about the domesticated animals (like dogs & cats). Say your dog wees on your chair, you see him, and he runs off as soon as he sees you looking, he knows he's done wrong.
Anyway, I digress... You don't have to be religious to have morals.

I know some rather altruistic atheists. They're just "a law" unto themselves, I guess. When someone by nature does the things of the law of the Spirit without benefit of any professed belief in God, is that in itself proof that it is true of God when He said that He has put eternity into the hearts and minds of all people? If this is true, then are atheists by default showing a belief in God whether or not they admit to His existence or need of Him? Quite a paradox if you ask me.

Everyone has a conscious and can determine right from wrong. It doesn't matter If you are religious or not. There are good caring people out there regardless of their beliefs that want to help others.

Follow the great commission. Go and make disciples of all nations. Atheists are just people who haven't had the gospel presented clearly to them. Christianity is ALMOST impossible to deny if presented correctly.

Athiests are affected by christiantiy more than they admit to.
Its like a wall where a cross hung for years, the cross was taken away but you can still see where the cross was because it protected the wall from dirt.

I am not going to throw stupid, meaningless scripture at you. I will say that ultimately you are responsible for your own happiness only and if you want to help others that is your business.
