It was a sermon about why God allows suffering in the world, and how satan just loves it when people blame God for the things that happen in the world (war, rape, murder, disease), when it is satan that is behind evil.
Appropriate to many questions on Yahoo, I'd say.

I actually woke up late and missed church.
And my priest doesn't speak of calamities. He talks about how to better our lives through compassion for others and the Holy Spirit.

No. Mine was pretty cool. We had a birthday party for the Christian Church. All wore red in celebration of the Pentecost.Had several scattered people in the pews who quoted John 3:16 in Spanish,Latin,Greek,Hebrew,German, English,Italian and Russian.It really was cool!
Then our priest(Episcopal not Catholic) preached a sermon on being homesick and how when we are depressed and lonley it can be missing God.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it to church this morning. My daughter has the stomach flu. My husband and I are doing a Bible study on the book of Ruth, and we read the first chapter on that book today at home.

We observed Pentecost, had a big picnic with our local Pakistani, Christian church.
