People believe for several reasons.
Some claim to have been approached by Jesus, and say that he communicates with them.
Some people like to believe in something and they choose Jesus I guess. A little faith doesn't hurt sometimes, it can help you when your in trouble and nobody else is around.

WOW! Are you sure you can't believe what Christians say? I mean, after all, Christian's abide by the Bible, which says they shalt not lie, right?
Anyone who has studied the Bible, historians or common people, know that Jesus DID infact exist. The Bible was a group of stories that God had impressed on people to write... which you can argue was just a simple story that someone made up, right? WRONG! The people that wrote the Bible were millions of miles away from each other, yet years later, when the stories were found and they all came together, the writings mirrored each other.. how could that happen???
I am not a holy roller and I'm not a Bible thumper, but I am a Christian. I was just like you, unwilling to believe and I actually read the Bible to find how to DISPROVE it. The more I read and studied the more I realized that everything in it was true. Maybe you should try to disprove it as well, you will be suprised by what you find. I hope you will at least think about the things I have said.

Why do so many people believe YOU exist? Or Thomas Jefferson? Or Socrates? Or Alexander the Great? In fact, using your line of thinking, no one existed before the people who are in your immediate vicinity right now! Just what, in your eyes, constitutes proof that someone existed? I think if you break it down then you'll find that Jesus most certainly qualifies! But then, what's the point, you said you wouldn't admit being proved wrong anyway. You probably already have been proved wrong... more than once...

If you are an atheist then you have no reason to care if Jesus existed or not right? So why waste your energy on something you don't even believe in? Oh and by the way He did exist, but it's OK. Live in denial and your ignorance. One day you will know the truth hopefully before it's too late. Maybe in your search for the truth your eyes will be opened.

Of course you wouldn't believe a Christian right? Because you're not one. You'd believe an Atheist even if he was wrong. Is that what you're trying to say? Sounds like it. But anyway...
Jesus was written in history other than the Bible by many historical figures. Such as Cornelius Tacitus; Lucian of Samosata; Flavius Josephus; Suetonius; Plinius Secundus, Pliny the Younger; Tertullian; Thallus... should I go on?
Jesus was as real as Christopher Columbus. If a Christian told you about Christopher Columbus would you believe him? Guess not.

I can not do anything to make you believe that Christ exist. You are a non believer and only Christ actually touching your life will change your way of thanking. I do not know about this mythical crap Horus and Krishna.
All that I know is that all I have to do is wake up every morning and I know that there is a god and that his Son Jesus Christ died on a Cross for our sins. To believe in Christ salvation is to have faith in something that you can not see or touch. I have felt the hand of God and Christ in my life. I have heard the voice of my Savior in the laugh of a Child. The sight of him as the sun both rises and sets on three continents. I believe in a God of Love a God that forgives our sins and I pray to a God every night not for the things that I want but for the blessings that he gives me daily and for the blessings that he will deliver to me in the future. I will pray for you as well that this God and Christ that you do not believe in
Dear Heavenly Father we thank you that this young man has expressed a interest in accepting you into his life, We know Lord that he would not have asked this question if he was not looking for you Heavenly Father Thank You Lord for this soul that will be lead to you through the answers program in Christ Name Amen

A bit up are we not? If Jesus did live all the things he did, during his life, was stolen from previous history. Other then that if it is what keeps some people on the straight and narrow and gets them up in the morning so be it.
Some people drink, smoke, gamble to keep them going. Whatever floats your boat. Don't pull the fundamentalist thinking and judge others.

I think you just answered your own question. Because many people are Christians, and because many people listen to historians. I personally believe in him, but I don't mind in the slightest that you don't. Everyone has the right to believe in what they want to without being heckled. Lol, have fun going through the rest of the answers. I'm sure most of them insult you in some way.

Prof of God
(1) - the argument from motion. If you see some dominoes in a long row falling down, you know someone pushed them, nothing moves itself. And neither does the whole universe. Think of the universe as an enormous chain of dominoes, all moving. Something outside the chain must have started the movement in the beginning. Otherwise it couldn't move, because nothing can move itself.
(2)- The very existence of things, not just their movement. You need a first cause of existence just as you need a first cause of motion, because nothing can make itself exist if it isn't already there. Nothing can cause itself. If there's no God who eternally exists, how can existence begin? If there's no God who has existence by his own nature and doesn't get it from any cause, how can the gift of existence be passed down the chain of creatures, who borrow it from each other?
(3)- Everything dies, or ceases to exist. Now if there were no God who never died, who never ceased to exist, then eventually everything would die and nothing could begin again. And then there would be nothing at all.
The second law of thermo-dynamics says all energy gets dissipated, wears down. Even the galaxies get cold, if there were no God the universe would have slowed to a stop by now.
(4)- The fourth one is an easy one. In the universe some things are better than others, right? So there must be a best, a standard of goodness to judge all the relative "betters". One thing is closer to it than another. And this standard has to be absolute goodness.
You may say that everything is relative. There's no absolute. To what? Only God Himself.
(5)- The argument for design. Design proves a designer. And nature is full of design. Therefore there must be a Designer behind it all.

Nobody will ever prove you wrong? Check the Roman census of approximately 6BC, Jesus not only existed but there is plenty of historical evidence for this FACT. Open your mind and the world is a greater place, do your research properly and your information will be correct, not doubtful, and finally, ask an open question, not a loaded or rhetorical one.
