Mohammed wasn't even a good example for mankind, but rather quite the contrary. To even ask such a question is quite repulsive.
Shall we next compare Hitler and Christ as to who was the better example?
Utter silliness.

DBznut gave a good answer. Christians will say Jesus and Muslims will say the Prophet Muhammad.
The question is, Who Was A Better Example for Mankind ?
When the Christians say Jesus cos he's the son of God, there is already NO COMPARISON. Because the question is, a better example for mankind, and we have to turn to a human not something else. Moerover, in a person's life, we undergo happiness and suffering at various stages and positions. For example, as a husband, as a father, as the head of a family, as a leader, as a warrior etc. a person experiences happiness and sorrows.
Can a husband ask Jesus for advise? Can a father ask Jesus for advise? Can a soldier ask Jesus for advise? Can a leader of a country ask Jesus for advise? What experience that Jesus has in those fields that can guarantee that he gives a sound advise? Did he go through those postions and experienced the difficulties? A Logical Answer would be No. So how can Jesus be a better example for mankind?
On the otherhand, look at Muhammad's life without any prejudice or bias. Can anyone say that he didnt go through difficulties? He suffered and slogged, but, didnt give up on his Mission, to establish the Monotheism Faith, which all the Prophets were sent for.
People can say many bad things about him. But its all futile attempts when one looks at his life. If his intentions were false and bad, then what did he get at the end? People do things for a reason and Most of the time its for a Selfish Reason. But what did the Prophet get after all his accomplishments? He did not have a penny when he died. He was a King but CHOSE NOT to LIVE like ONE. Why must a person go through all the struggles and tortures and at the end do not wish to enjoy the fruits? These are things which People fail to look at when making a statement or judgement.
But however one looks at it, there is no better example to follow for mankind other than the holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), because he lived the various facets and positions a man would take and showed us how to do it well in a Just and Fair way.

Jesus Christ was the son of God, Mohammed was a Prophet
of God.
Only Jesus gave his life so that all could be saved, what
better example do you need than to give your life for his
friends.

Mohammed (pbuh) and Jesus are both great examples of mankind. They were great leaders and most resepected out of all the other people out there. Why choose between them..? And people...dont stereotype about Mohammed just because he was Muslim...

Lets see:
Jesus (pbuh) : A Prophet for 2 yrs and 4 months.
Mohammad (pbuh) : A prophet for 23 years.
Jesus (pbuh) : People took him as a god. (Sort of failed at his message)
Mohammad (pbuh) : People took him only as a Prophet, was successful at his message.
Jesus (pbuh) : Needed to preform miracles for people to believe in him.
Mohammad (pbuh) : Didn't need to preform miracles for people to believe in him.
Mohammad (pbuh) : Mohammad the prophet, Mohammad the messenger, Mohammad the king, Mohammad the warrior, Mohammad the businessman, Mohammad the preacher, Mohammad the philosopher, Mohammad the reformer, Mohammad statesman, Mohammad the orator, Mohammad the refuge of orphans, Mohammad the protector of slaves, Mohammad the emancipator of women, Mohammad the judge, Mohammad the Saint, Mohammad the friend, Mohammad the family man, etc...
Jesus (pbuh): lets just say he wasn't that many things.
So who sets a better example?
I would say Mohammad (pbuh), He taught us more and hence he sets a better example to man kind.

Jesus, without a doubt. His ethics, if lived, lead to inner peace and forgiveness. Muhammad's lead to an ever growing spiral of revenge .

Jesus - no competition. Who else died for your sins and rose again to ascend into heaven? No one. Jesus Christ died to pay the price for everyone's sin so we could have fellowship with God. No other person ever has done this or will do this for you.
