Sweetie, I have been getting high since I was 14. That is a long time. I only do it occassionally now but i still enjoy a joint sometimes.
It should be legalized, in my opinion. I am living proof that it does not lead to harder drugs. I was a Christian when I started.
Pot can make you lazy. I don't think it is good to get stoned everyday.

Marijuana Prohibition is a shameful black mark on our History and culture.
The State should NEVER do more damage to a person's life than a substance that the State says is dangerous.
When a person's life is ruined through Mandatory Sentences, that's the State ruining peoples lives not the substance.
Marijuana imprisonments exceed the total prison populations of European countries.
Is it a War on Drugs or a War on Poor People?
I don't see religion or lack thereof as a relevant issue in this, other than the detrimental effect that attempting to legislate morality has on everyone.
To all the unjustly imprisoned for victimless crimes reading this, I'm sorry for the actions and policy of this State.
To all the Drug Warriors-Thanks for nothing. I'm ashamed of the DEA and all who think like them!

I've battled with a drug addiction for a long time.In the past I would smoke marijuana rather then use that drug when I had urges. Not a perfect solution but pot was/is far less damaging in every possible way then that drug is.I am on probation(thanks to the other drug....well...my actions to obtain it) and can't smoke pot to curb urges. How am I being served by probation and this countries wasted war on drugs by keeping me from something that may continue to help me with a far worse problem? Not to mention people with health issues marijuan could help.Don't need lectures either.Rehabs,jails,....been there done that. Marijuana should at least be decriminalized if not legalized but I would like to see it legalized.Tax heavily or whatever you want but don't make it a crime to posses it.Plus it should be individuals choice as to what they put in their body.If they commit a crime to get it rehabilitate them or jail them.Increase antidrug education in the classrooms even to go as far as to bringing ALL kids to jails, rehabs, methadone clinics (with their parents permission of course) to see the affects of drug use.Pot isn't good but their are far worse things out there that are
%100 legal.Alcohol being criminal number one! lol Let's face it too....Though they try to deny it governments around the world(esp the country I live in and love...the good ol' USA) use narco money to fund black ops and things we aren't offically suppossed to be involved in.The governments are def involved in the drug trade!!! Don't think for a minute that somehow Corporations don't get some kind of kickback in there too. There is def a ruling class out there that will do anything to stay in power.Even in democracies! Greed, power and control are the real reasons Marijuana is illegal in the first place!

It should be a legally prescribed Drug, under control of the various State Goverments.
There was a Culture in Africa which used Marijuana as a way to control depression, and in extreme situations ( such as anti-social behavior) forced criminals to smoke or eat lots of VERY strong pot-it has a way of turning ones perception inwards, and sometimes shows people that Love is preferable to Hate.
In the 60s we found out about the Baluba Culture, and applied their reasoning to our social group-no fights, no problems, no worries.
No criminals.
Amen.

I think the government would never be able to control the hard narcotics trade, without making otherwise good citizens gateways to the underworld. Pot is a gateway drug alright, but the gate swings both ways. Come to think of it, they can't seem to control narco business at all....
Sadly, pot makes hipocrits out of 90 % of Americans. Those that have smoked it, know what I mean.
Back in the day, they had a word for zero tolerance, Prohibition, look it up.

I think people have the right to do whatever they want with their body and that it should be legalized. I think it should be treated (ie: legislated) in the same way as alcohol, with fines for using MJ and driving being the same as for drinking and driving. And by the way, I have neither smoked pot nor had any inclination to do so.
Raised Catholic, but lapsed. Common sense has more influence on my opinions than religion.

Religion may play a small part as marijuana is a natural pain reliever and, as a witch, I use it as such.
Yes, it should be legalized. Smart countries already have or raised the limit of how much you can legally have in your possession.
It is a natural herb, such as bay leaf, basil, parsley, etc.
I should have added, "moderation is key", you don't smoke yourself silly of course.

i think that yes it should be legalized. i havn't smoked in yrs but the fact is, how many stoned driving fatalities have you heard of? what the worst a pothead is going to do' eat too many twinkies and laugh at dumb stuff. i fell its pretty much harmless stuff and as soon as the gov. comes up with a profitable taxation system for it, it will be legalized. my religion or lack there of does not affect my opinion. smoke it up!!!

Anything that is going to alter my mind is not good and I don't need it in my life.
However, I do believe if it helps those medicinally like for those suffering from glaucoma, I have no problem for that use. Then it should be legalize but with restrictive access (Rx) like other DEA-type drugs.
It is the recreation use I have a problem with. Driving under the influence is not cool either.
