when it comes to legitimate region free DVD films, I haven't come across any. As for a player you should be able to pick one up pretty cheaply.
If your in the UK, good places to go would be Asda, Tesco, Currys, Comet
If your in the US, Walmart, Circuit City
The last link looks like a bargain...i think i might get one myself...
Hope this helps :)
But of course you can always get a better deal online...
Here are some websites I checked out for you..
With some DVD players you also have to choice of having a DIVX capability...which means you can download some films off the net to check them out before you buy an original copy.

There is no simple solution, but generally I've found that if the DVD is from the USA, NTSC system it will play on a UK DVD player as long as the Player has been hacked to be multi region. Try putting in the make and model of your DVD player on your web search engine and your almost certain to find several sites which will give a multi region hack.
The only other way is to buy only Region 1 (NTSC) DVDs and using DVD shrink and Imageburn, free software, go to http://www.jaywick.net/software.htm for links. Make Back up copies, that way the originals stay pristine as well.

Convert countless formats video data to dvd format, i do no longer think of there's a loose application can prepare you a thank you to, i attempted many loose softwares until now, yet none of them artwork nicely, some unfavourable high quality, some even viruses, so I continuously use a much less costly application RZ DVD author to transform my video data to dvd format for playable on dvd participant, you have got a attempt, that's elementary to apply, it could convert any format movies to dvd format, including convert mp4 and avi movies to dvd format, etc, that's elementary to apply and works extraordinarily plenty, i think of it is going to coach you a thank you to to try this definitely.

You can buy multi-region dvd players that can play all types of dvd. All dvd's are divided into 7 regions. US dvd's are Region 1 and UK dvd's are Region 2.

I own a Sony RDR-HX510. It will play DVDs from the U.K., the U.S.A., China, Russia, Japan, Hong Kong and just about anywhere else in the world, with no problem at all.
It didn't need any 'hacks' or modifications to do this - that's how it was straight from the box.

sure, there's secam, but it's just another format and won't do what you want. the format has to match. can't put regular gas in a diesel engine.
