For the same reasons Islam is such a love an "peace" religion and "it's been spread and imposed by force" right now in 2007. All religions, one way or another, have the same bloody past, some did, one still does.

Sadly to say, a lot is done in the name of religion and God. Christianity is no different. You have good and evil in all, it's been this way since the beginning of time, and is going to continue till the end of time.

A personal relationship with your God and His Goodness should be what drives an individual in their faith, and for the greater good of life as we know it. But history has shown us that a lot of evil is done in the name of a faith.

In The God-Father III the Cardinal who was listening to Micheal's confession took a stone out of the fountain that had been there for years. He cracked it open and stated that.....

Peoples souls are just like that rock that even though sitting in water for years the water never penetrated. They can be submerged in the love and word of God, even surrounded by it all their lives and it not penetrate.

Christianity Like many religions have done horrible unspeakable things, and will one day have to pay the cost of the misuse of power all in the name of a religion!

i asked this of a Baptist preacher. and his response was that.

when people refuse the glory of god that death and pestilence will come to them. much like in the story of Joshua. the Phillistines refused the glory of god, and death and disease came to them.

i guess the idea is that it is ok to kill anyone that does not agree with you.

FOR THOES SAYING THAT IT WASENT....

if the crusades were only about taking Jerusalem back, then why were battles fought all over france and eastern europe?

what gave you the right to take Jerusalem in the first place. as i recall it was already occupied by indeginous people (phillistines)

What do you call the Genocide against the Native Americans?

how do you reconcile the ammount of indigenous tribes in Africa that were killed off or forced to convert?

Why did the church allow Viking kings to spread the religion by forcing conqured people to change to Christianity. (southern ireland)

why do you sing a song titled "onward christian soldiers"

this list could go on forever....

HUH? When..., where..., Reading the New Testament, where christianity began and no bloody swords there...! There have been many battles of defense for the families of believers since then, and rightly so.

probably to do with animals being killed in a "loving" way rather than being strangled or something. Anyway, everyone knows the meat tastes better if the throat is slit.

Because it was the greed of men who hid under the shield of Christianity.

Killing in the name of Christianity just made raping and pillaging more acceptable to the tender nobility.

It wasn't. And isn't.

All the blood was from the Roman centurions chopping their heads off, flogging them until their vertebrae showed.
