bake @ 450 for at least an hour or untill the potato gives to the touch (if its hard, its not done)

That's a big tater! Do not cover it with foil, no matter what anyone else tells you, all that does is trap in the steam and you'll have a steamed tater.
Clean the tater, rub dry, poke a couple of holes in the skin with a fork, put into a 450 degree oven for between 45 minutes and one hour. To see if it is done, stick a fork in, it should go in smoothly, if there is give the tater still has some raw spots. Enjoy!

wrap in foil, bake @ 350 for 40 min. then check w/ fork to see if it's soft in the middle.
better, cut potato, brush on a little bit of melted butter or marg. add ground sea salt, ground cracked pepper, wrap in foil and then bake like above.

Stab it all around and bake it at 200C for about an hour. Use an oven mitt to see it is soft to the touch.

Best bet to insure it being done: 5 minutes in microwave, wrap in foil, bake in oven for one hour. Big pot!!!
