religion is political but it is also normally the downfall of countries. Do you notice the more we pull religion into the political picture the more we fall (look at bush). IT shouldn't be for our founding fathers wanted us to escape that faith. Unfortunatley there are fundamentalist and evangelical christians who are trying ot poison our political system with their religion.

No, it is not that way. A certain famous writer said once: "In the bottom of every political subject, there is a religious one".
It is NOT a struggle for power. It can be used for that, and it has been used for that, but actually goes far, far beyond it.
You can try not to, but it is HUMAN NATURE to mix them, like it or not. Both are DEEP within. Even the atheists make a "religion" of their disbelief

Yep, and within every church I have ever attended (when I used to be a christian) there have been politics on all levels, from the Parochial Church Council down to the committees and the subcommittees. The vicar often had to fight against upstream politics too.

The FIRST STEP to being Political is VOTING

One you find a Church where the Members DON'T VOTE; or have a Flag in there Church; then YOU'VE FOUND the One and Only TRUE RELIGION

Most wars have been over religion! That's why the USA tries to give freedom of worship to all, and keep Who and how you worship out of the laws of the land.

I suppose many organized religions are about power, but spirituality is about self-fulfillment. Still, an interesting idea.

i think u r misinterpreting the saying

its "you shouldn't, not it couldn't"

for example, america and turkey are secular countries.... sure, america might have "in god we trust" in the currency, but thats the extent of it (okay, i'm lying... we also have alot of neoconservatives as well)

but certainly, religion has played a role in the shaping of civilization and nations

Funny, religion to me is about humility, self-sacrifice, and servanthood.
