The military versions were all 4WD.
The CJs ("Civilian Jeeps") were available in both 2 and 4-wheel drive. The Postal service used a lot of the 2WD versions (with right hand drive for servicing rural mailboxes) for years.
The current JKs are only available in 4WD. The four-door "Limiteds" are available in 2WD.

Okay, the Jeep Wrangler is a vehicle which has a transfer case which when selected or shifted by the owner will either be 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel. Other Jeep Models have either a selector or are All Wheel Drive.

No not all jeeps are 4 wheel drive, They don’t normy stock 2 wheel drive. But I know you can order them, I know some people who have done that because they live in a bigger city and don’t need 4 wheel drive.

Unless you have a slip yoke eliminator installed, you will grenade the transfer case by dumping out the oil. Fix the rear differential ASAP. Never drive a vehicle with a busted differential as this will end up costing you a fortune when you break other components You have now learned why most people scrap the crappy Dana 35 rear axle.

There are 2WD versions of Jeeps, but why would someone buy a Jeep that's only 2WD would be a better question.
