OK hate me if you may but not all Christians defend tobacco use, but anyway obviously this is a topic which you feel strongly about and before you go pointing fingers and making laws, you need to take some care-full consideration and think, why some people smoke or chew tobacco? How does it effect our economy? and if its band, what other drug just might take its place? cause it's seems to me you have a pretty good start but now its time for you to see the other side and then make your decisions and actions. I use tobacco and you would never think so, or know because i don't smell like smoke, i don't have visible marks that i smoke and i don't do it in public palaces, only in my own time/place. and i only do it because it helps take some edge off of this horrible life sometimes, but i respect people when i smoke, so I wish some of the none smokers would show a little but more respect for us. We make our own choices and have to live with our own consequences, and besides I'm Christian and all my life i have been, I have high faith values and i don't drink or use any other drugs, i follow a good path , even though temptation can be hard, but i stay on my path. So please dont assume that Christians are bad and live a bad life because some of us smoke but the last time i check so do people in other religions so does that mean their horrible to?

Why on earth would you think we defend the use of tobacco? Where do you get your information? I don't even know you, and I am going to ask you why you defend abortion when it kills millions of innocent children every year. Do you support abortion? Heck if I know. I just made an assumption about you without knowing a single thing about you or what you stand for. Christian beliefs would not be supportive of anything which is harmful to the body (God's temple) or to others. We might not be as outspoken when it comes to tobacco use as we are of other things, but it is terribly unfair of you to just make a general assumption about all Christians without any solid evidence to show your question is based on fact. Now if you had said "why do SOME Christians....." then those Christians who do this could answer your question based upon why THEY do this. Your question however, does not apply to the vast majority of us, any more than me assuming you support abortion applies to you.

I have never heard a christian defend tobacco and I grew up in South Carolina. Indeed, in the Pentecostal church, they preach just as hard against it as they do alcohol. I, personally, would love to see tobacco outlawed and I don't really understand why it hasn't been.
Then again, let's remember who really controls America: Big Business.

Most of the Anabaptist line of churches in America (which is the majority of churches in America) do consider tobacco use a sin (along with alcohol).
Most other churches do not, but they are not in the majority (I am one that does not, although I don't regularly use tobacco...smoke cigars from time to time...and I do drink alcohol).
So you are not alone in your "holy" crusade, yet no I won't be joining you.

Just because you know some Christians that smoke or use tobacco products, does not mean we all do. Why do you stereotype all Christians based on your knowledge of a few?

I don't know of any Christians who defend the use of tobacco. It destroys lives and souls. And in all honestly you can't judge ALL Christians but the actions of a few becuase just like any other religion we are not all the same. It's sad we should all be what God has called us to be but unfortuantely we're not. People get their own ideas and impart them into Christianity and it gives the rest of us a bad name. But you are right we should NOT defend the use of tobacco!

Never have i seen a Native American Medicine Man suffering from lung cancer.
it is not the plant, but the chemicals that are added to it that make it much more addictive, that make it much more deadly.
i agree. that smoking in most public places should be restricted. that is to say all enclosed public places. and no where within 200 feet of the primary entrance of a hospital/doctors office/day care center/school.
but if somebody wants to sit in an open air cafe and smoke. then i have no problem with it. likewise for Bars and smoke shops/lounges.

I know of many people who defend tabacco use...none of them do so "as Christians" or as part of their faith. Many might consider themselves Christians...but I don't see that one has to do with the other. People being in denial is nothing new, and certainly not limited to Christianity.
I've seen doctors and nurses smoking...talk about denial.
I'm a Christian, and I'd support anything that would outlaw smoking. It's legal poison...

This is perhaps one of the most stupid questions I've seen posted. Christians do not defend the use of tobacco. Smokers defend the use of tobacco.

I forgot, all us Christians have the same political opinions on things like tobacco, I must have missed the memo again. You do realize how absurd it is to lump all Christians together with that claim don't you?
