You sound distraught. Gateraid is not going to help against parvo. That dog NEEDS a vet, its not fair to let him suffer. Im sorry but you are going to have to find some way of getting him to the vets. Is there a friend who can lend you some money? Can you sell anything? Dont go through this alone, any family to help nurse him through the night?
I really really hope that your dog gets better, I have my fingers crossed, this is such a sad story - i cant think what that dog and you must be going through

Why would you get a puppy and not be able to afford vet care? That's consideration NUMBER ONE!!!

Contact the people who gave you the dog and tell them that he has parvo. Ask them why he wasn't vaccinated.

Next, break out your credit cards and bring him to the vet. Refusal to provide vet care is not only morally reprehensible, it's against the law. When you took this pup as your own, you took the responsibility of providing adequate vet care. There is NO EXCUSE for not brining him to a vet.

If you cant afford treatment, call your local animal shelter. Let them know you have a parvo puppy and that you need to have him put to sleep. It would be far better than asking him to survive on "gateraid" (sic) and suffer a slow and painful death.

I can't believe that you are on here refusing to help your dog. I just shake my head in disbelief in how horrible some people can be.

If your dog actually has parvo gator aide isn't going to do much as Parvo attacks and basically eats apart the intestinal trac. I really hate to say this but it's either the vet or be humane and have him put to sleep. I have worked in vets offices and have assisted with autopsies and seen what this does to the dog's inside. The intravenous solution and antibiotics is the only thing that MIGHT save your pup but even with that the vet usually won't give you more than a 50% chance of living.
Please don't make him suffer.
Also if he does not make it realize that parvo stays in the ground and house for up to 10 years so don't bring a pup in if it hasn't been fully vaccinated or you will probably end up in the same situation.
Some vets will work with you try to find one that might help you. Also you can possibly offer to do volunteer work too help pay the bill
Hope everything will work out for you

your ONLY and I mean ONLY chance is to take the dog to the vet. The dog needs serious serious medicine. There is NO over the counter treatment for parvo. You MUST MUST MUST take it to the vet.

Parvo is NOT a joke. your yard is now contaminated with the virus. Any future dogs you get will need to be vaccinated on time and before they come home or they can get the disease.

YOU MUST take the dog to the vet. That is your ONLY choice. If you don't it is going to die. If you don't have the money to take care of an animal, then don't get another one until you do - it's not fair to get an animal and not be able to take care of it.

Think about what you would do if it were you or a family member who had a life-threatening illness, and do the same for your puppy. You would probably search to the ends of the earth for ways and means to find help for you or your loved one, so do the same for your pet. Call the person/place where you got the puppy, and ask for their assistance in obtaining treatment. It sounds like he was probably infected when you got him, and the previous owner has a moral, if not legal, obligation to help find treatment. If that doesn't work, call the animal shelter, a number of veterinarians, and, if one is located in your area, a university which offers veterinary training. Explain your plight, and prey on the sympathies of anyone you contact to aid you in saving your puppy's life. As mentioned in other answers, take the necessary precautions before bringing your puppy or any other animal into your environment to preclude spreading infection and the heartbreak of watching a pet suffer and die.

who diagonosed the dog? How do you even know what is wrong with him. He NEEDS to see a vet, your treatment is not going to save him. Why was he not vaccinated against parvo in the first place. If you cannot afford to own a pet..you really should not have one...in this case, your lack of finances is going to cause the death of your dog. Is there any friends or family members you can borrow money from, or perhaps set up a payment plan with your vet.

Parvovirus is a dangerous virus that attacks dogs' intestinal tracts. It can cause severe bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and electrolyte imbalances and can lead to severe dehydration, a buildup of toxins or poisons in the bloodstream, and eventually death. When puppies under 12 weeks old are infected, the virus can damage the heart muscle and cause lifelong cardiac problems. Parvovirus is extremely contagious and can be transmitted by any person, animal, or object that comes in contact with a infected dog's feces. The virus can survive extreme heat and cold for long periods of time, and may remain alive on a surface long after the feces has been removed.

There are many ways you can protect your dog from parvovirus. Most veterinarians recommend multiple vaccinations for growing puppies. As dogs get older, their immunity is maintained with annual booster shots. Use a solution of one part bleach to thirty parts water to clean areas frequented by other dogs, and use the solution on the soles of your shoes if you think you've walked through an infected area.

If your dog experiences vomiting, severe diarrhea, depression, or loss of appetite, see your veterinarian as soon as possible. Though there are presently no drugs to kill the virus, there are treatments proven to control its symptoms.

Hun, bottom line is you need to bring your baby to a vet or I am afraid you won't have him with you too much longer. He will die if you don't get him treated by a Veterinarian.

NOTE: Gatorade will not benefit him in any way, it could actually make him worse. To keep him hydrated please use water.

He really needs to get to a vet quick, parvo is very serious! You should borrow money, get a loan, or give him to someone that can afford him. I had the same thing happen to me a year ago... I gave my dog as much gatoraid as he would take, and a tablespoon of pepto bismol every 4-6 hours.

parvo is a horribly painful very deadly disease. you must take the dog to vet...the treatment is very expensive...even with treatment survival rate is not that high...if you do not have the money to treat him, then euthanasia is honestly the best and most responsible thing you can do for him to end his suffering... i know that you did not want to hear that but that is about all you can do.

If your puppy has parvo and you can not treat it...you need to have the puppy euthanized.

Parvo is very contagious.

This is why they have parvo/ corona/ distemper vaccines and parvo tests.

Your puppy is going to die...it's up to you whether it's humanely with euthansia or a terrible death.
