I enjoy many different wines among both reds and whites. Right now I am very interested in Malbecs, with is a very popular varietal from Argentina, specifically the Mendoza region in the foothills of the Andes Mountains... a particular bargain right now is Norton Bodega Malbec, which I found in a Kansas City Liquor store for under $10! It's more expensive in Canada, but still a relatively good value. Try and look for the 2004 vintage.

Personally while I like both reds and whites rieslings are my favourite. Fantastic white wine that finds its origins in Germany. It's a very versatile wine because of the balance between sugar and acidity in the taste. It pairs nicely with most foods.

I had a 1987 Dunn Vineyards that may be one of the best wines I've ever had. I had a 1986 Margaux that was spectacular. So, one of those would be my "favourite" wines.
