IMO, charcoal will always be better than gas as it gives you more of a smoky flavor. Get some mesquite wood chips involved, and it's even better! Gas is just far more convenient, so that is what most people use. Most of the time I use gas, but I will break out the charcoal sometimes if I want a really good steak.

I always thought charcoal to be best, until I bought a good Weber grill. Charcoal is a pain in the butt and may not start when you want it to. The convienance of just starting up the grill is so nice. You can also add a soke chip box to your grill that allows you to add that smokey flavor when cooking. It also allows you to experiment with differant wood to find the ones you like best. Also gas allows you to change temperature so much more accurately, much more versitile use a gas grill. If you have just one choice, go with a GOOD gas grill. Over time it is much more price effective as well.

Charcoal is my favorite.
With charcoal, you can add wood chips and help make one quality smelling and tasting dish. For grilling, the smell is half the flavor of what you cook. I reccomend Apple Wood chips. All-time favorite. Makes one mean BBQ chicken and the aroma of the Apple is not overpowering.
True, gas does burn more evener and faster, but I really think you miss out on a great grilled taste when cooking with gas, and it sometimes tastes a little chemically

IMO, charcoal will constantly be extra effective than gas because it aspects extra of a smoky style. Get some mesquite timber chips in touch, and that's even extra effective! gas is in basic terms plenty extra handy, so as that's what maximum persons use. lots of the time i exploit gas, yet i'm going to destroy out the charcoal each each now and then if i desire an exceedingly stable steak.

Charcoal all the way. The flavor is better, and it's cheaper to use charcoal, and safer as well. You won't have to risk an explosion, if you don't have your gas line hooked up correctly.

charcoal. it tastes better, its funner. i have a stove already, i dont need one outside, and thats the way i think of gas grills. the only reason i would have a gas grill is for parties and cooking big quantities of food(along with the charcoal grill, id have both going), it is more practical in that way.

we use to use charcoal for bar-b-q's but in later years we found out that gas bar-b-q's are much safer and are much better for your health.....the charcoal is suppose to cause cancer because of the carcinogins it releases into the food.....but as far as flavor goes, nothing beats charcoal......the gas really isn't too bad , it is all in what you get use to....hope this was a bit of help for you.......take care
