They might not let you into the prom, but I think it's a cool thing to do, you should have an alternate prom where the boys dress like girls and the girls dress like boys.

I'm cool with it, but Father O'Brien and Mother Superior Maria may not like the idea of coing to St Steven's High School Prom in cross-drag.
So consider the environment. Definitely not to a parochial prom. Maybe to a public school prom - but you might just check with a school admin type to be sure it's ok - does not violate some goofy school rule against "outlandish wear.'

Me, I wouldn't care though I'd see it for what it was, showing off. Remember, this is really the onset of your life, photos will be taken, and it's something which you and your date will live with as long as the Internet exists. It's not likely you'll always be what you are today--jobs, a career, your own kids. "Daddy, why do you look so freaky in this picture?" But who the heck cares what you wear? You might add a big sack over your head. With an eye on the exit. San Diego is pretty much a wacko rightwinger's heaven.

In San Diego isn't that the norm? Just kidding, I know it's normal in San Fran. I think that's a great idea, make sure your date wears some really big fake boobs too. And, you can stuff a few socks in your underwear to really look like a 'guy'.

I mean... a lot of butch-lesbians prefer to dress like guys because they feel more comfortable this way. I wouldn't really be embarrassed if I were you, I mean it's not like you're going to prom with her. And it is her own personal choice, so it doesn't really matter what you have to say about it.

I know that times have changed, but back when I went to prom in 1994, this type of dressing would have been totally inappropriate.

I love that idea!!! Be careful because some school administrators would find that offensive. (Funny how they say its offensive to the students when really it offends no one but themselves...)
At my school we voted a gay couple as King and Queen of prom but out votes were thrown out (Although they won).
I would ask maybe one of the "less strict" teachers what they think the school would do if you did that. Maybe your school would be cool about it and find it clever.

I live in Kissimmee, Florida...
and for my junior-prom a senior (his senior prom, obviously) came dressed in drag. He did it cause that's how he wanted to go dressed... Everyone was really cool with it, even the teachers and the administration. But he eventually got kicked out when he tried to go into the girls bathroom (I guess everything has its limits). BTW: My junior-prom was in 1998...
I don't know if you should do it or not...
it depends on the community you live in. Some people will think its really cool...some people will undoubtedly be offended by it...
I think it would be super-fly....
Even if you get kicked out early.

I don't know if they will let you in or not - ask the school about it. But let me appeal to your senses for a moment. While it will be memorable in a goofy sort of way, do you really want to look back in 10 years (and your children) to see you goof up such a special day? Dad in a dress? hmmmm.... just think about the long term when you make decisions like that. It might be fun today, but will you regret it tomorrow? If not, go for it!
