First, you have to check if he is not suffering for some kind of skin fungus. Sometimes , skin fungus make skin to break and bleed. You can try an antifungal creme called clotrimazole. You can get it over- the- counter. Wash and dry area carefully and apply it on affected area twice a day. Do it for at least 7 days. if you see some improvement, then it might be a skin fungus condition. Continue treatment for other week.If it dont work, take your husband to a doctor. He will check him and will prescribe him the correct medication. Something that help a lot to heal cracked heels is to apply a body cream on affected area and wear socks while sleeping..It work well on me.That help to make skin to feel softer.Hoping he get well soon!!!!

Soaking in Epsom Salts is a great helper. To continue the treatment, plain old shortening rubbed on the heels & covered with white socks over night works. It won't cure right away, probably up to a week of nightly treatments should do the trick.

Once his heels have healed, continue the treatment once a week to help prevent it from happening again.

Slather on vaseline BUT make sure he puts on 2 pairs of socks to sleep. This helps the vaseline penetrate the skin and soften his feet. The heat from the socks might seem uncomfortable at first but in the morning, his feet will be softer.

I had that problem, and I had to go for pediceres a couple times. They slice off with all the dead and dry skin with this razor thing they use for about 20 minutes, and she was not happy about having to do all that work. You can buy one at the cosmetic section anywhere, After all that dead dry skin is off, then apply heal balm daily for a few days till the cuts heal. Im telling u, no way his feet were worse than mine. Anyway, if he takes care of his feet and u help him with the shredding away of the dry skin, his feet will be all pretty again, just like mine : )

Miracle Foot repair, you get it at Walgreens. You have to put on the feet every single night then wear socks, don't go barefoot, that makes the heels crack.

I would try fresh aloe vera plants (buy them from the store, as they are unprocessed and work better). You may also want to buy an herb called Comfrey. If you can't find it, you can go online to places and buy the leaf or root. They both work extremely well! I got mine at the bulkherbstore.com Or grow your own roots. They are awesome healing plants! I hope this helps! :)

Call your local pharmacist and ask him about otc. diabetes foot creams. These creams are really great. You may try WESSON OIL for frying foods. This is a great home remedy OR HONEY 100%. Call your natural health food store also.

did you put the vaseline on overnight?

One thing that should be excellent is Aloe cream or Aloe Gel
the unpasteurized kind
If you don't have access to a healthfood store I suggest Catherine's Choice at this site:
www.aloes.com
the products are excellent
