I'd suggest cookies or cupcakes. Cookies are even easier to eat at one's desk if your colleagues need to. It's a very common European (northern Europe, at least) to bring the goodies for everyone on your birthday. I like it.

uh... it's your birthday someone should be bringing something for you! Bringing your own cake is tacky. Ask some of them out to dinner for your birthday, but it should be a day for you to feel more relaxed not stressed from trying to please everyone else!

You could bring cup cakes, there inexpensive. Normally coworkers get you something, you know since it's your bday. You can either make them yourself or go to walmart in the bakery dept.

get a five dollar bill and pin it to your shirt..when folks ask ye what thats doing there tell em its yer birfday..they might donate some money..my neice got over a hundred bucks last thursday at the nursury.
