I'm guilty, though it was a case of forgetting to smash some barbs down, I was ticketed once. but in a previous question someone posted this:

"The rule is BS and I simply don't follow it. I don't keep the fish I catch anyway. I just don't follow the regulations if this stupid rule is in place......"

these rules are almost always in place to protect native fish populations or to help a struggling fishery recover, these regs always lower fish mortality rates, & usually after about 3 years result in much improved fishing, not only more fish but often much bigger fish. why then can't we respect the regs? are we that selfish?

I agree. I mean i love fishing but rules are rules and it aint worth breakin em just because personally u don't think it is right. I have fished around those kinda people and got punched over tellin sum1 that they were doin sumthin illegal but i think people who break the rules aren't real fishermen.

Some people have no values or morals , and basically a disrespect for nature, they are probably the same folks who throw trash out on lakes and streams and etc.

Maybe its the way they were raised or who they hang out with.

You should always use barbless hooks for catch and release. I like to call the MNR on poachers...
