i had an interview earlier this week and i really want the job but i dont know when i should call and check back or just go up there. anyone?

Two of the interview rules you should always remember, is always ask at the end of the interview, when you expect to hear from them and always send them a thank you email expressing your sincere interest in the company.
In your situation, it is best to wait at least 1 week like one of previous post commented. 2 weeks is usually the norm. Call the company and do not go back up there.

Don't go up there! But when I was interviewing, I would call back after about 2-3 weeks. Remember, they may still have to review your information and interview other people.

Did you send a note to the interviewer, thanking them for their time and expressing your strong interest in the job? That's a good thing to do.
It's also good to ask at an interview when you might hear from them. If you didn't ask or they didn't say, I'd give it a week before I called to ask.
