Don't ask me that question, because I feel the same way.. I grew up in a hellfire church and even as a very little girl, dreamed about hell,as my own destination.. They use hell as a fear factor to control people... Little kids should not be taught hellfire. It was a lifetime remembrance that still angers me... Of course my mom preached the hellfire way also... I actually blame a lot of ills on the church!

Seems you are speaking of the Christian teaching of hell.... Judaism has a different teaching. I am not frightened into submission with my beliefs.

A careful reading of the Bible will uncover that it is not God attempting to frighten man into submission. MAN is frightening man into submission. Just doing it in God's name.

He's not trying to frighten you into submission, He's just trying to warn you and give you a chance. A lot of people are just too stupid to figure it out.

The "free will" is a delusion. If we really had a free will, we would have been given the choice to be born or not. I had absolutely no will whatsoever to come to this world. I came because I HAD TO come.
Look at this question, it has some important points about hell & sin:

Did he really, though? That's the better question. Some people don't even believe in Hell, and others not even God. He didn't force fear, some people talk of the fear of Hell which should be in us but that's still not God; just man. The beauty of free will is complete choice, whether we listen of the fear, tell of the fear, or don't even believe in God or Hell. God wants us to come to him out of love, this is written all over the Bible, not out of fear. But the truth is that you should fear God- he has power to condemn you to Hell. If you fear him, you'll obey his laws. If you love him, you'll keep his commandments. Together, you can have a good relationship with him, and be on your way to eternity!

I did not accept Jesus as my personal Savior because of being frightened by hell. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior because of the sacrifice He made for me for my sins. He loves me more than any mortal human can ever love anyone or anything. You are looking at this all the wrong way. But you have the free will to look at it any way you choose.

Only you can choose your eternal destination by the path you take in life. The path to God or the path away from God. He forces no one to follow Him, its all your choice. God Bless

That's what I was thinking
Why should the only reason we want to do good is cause we don't wanna go to hell. Shouldn't we want to do good for the moral sake of doing ood? Isn't that the true definition of good, to do good deeds cause you know it's right and not cause you're scared?

God didn't do this. Christianity did this. You are Eternal and precious and you are just passing through this place. Be who you are.
