What is beneficial about receiving a General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions as to contrast to an OTH?

It does have an effect in the long-term as to benefits and rights that you will receive upon retirement age. Also, depending on what job area you intend on pursuing later in life, a General Discharge will be perceived as better than an OTH. Please keep in mind that neither is as good as an Honorable.

Later on in life, you will have the option of petitioning for an upgrade, but this is a difficult process to say the least. I hope that you have some say over whatever situation you find yourself in and good luck.

Not very good, check with a US Military Recruiter and they will fill you in on all of the details. A HONORABLE DISCHARGE is the only way to travel!!!

You get to keep all of your GI Bill benefits and you can work for any government contractor, or any other governement agency. Like your local police and fire departments and even jobs like McDonald's and Pizza Hut. OTH will ruin your entire life guaranteed.

A Gen under Hon can be upgraded to honorable so that you get full benefits.

I wouldn't want anything but an honorable discharge. It doesn't look good on your record any other way.
