I've been wiccan for 5 years, lately I've been reading up on some other websites and all of a sudden all of my believes seem to be wrong or historically inacurate.
Can someone give me a "this is the way it is" account?
Because from all the stuff I've heard, all I've been taught and have taught myself COULD be a huge lie...

People, I don't insult your religion, I'd prefer you not insulting mine.

The mentioned website is the one that made me protest. From my knowledge paganism is very old (forgive me for not giving numbers) and Wicca is based on it. I really don't know how to fit myself into a category, I guess that I'm ´traditional wiccan. Not new age more old age (if I can invent that term for the sake of theargument).

Wiccans are probably the last people who want to be god. (to whoever said that) Do your research, as hard as it may be to find an accurate account, and then comment.

Your beliefs are not "wrong" or inaccurate, and there are many who first begin with Wicca when discovering the earth-centered systems because Wicca is the most widely "advertised" new-age belief system in the media. Wicca gets the most "attention" from the media, while all other Pagan paths have still been ignored. You have just been in a place where you were quite happy with what you've found so far in Wicca, and didn't realize until now there may be more than one viewpoint within the Pagan community that might be "better" or "worse" than what you are doing currently. However... as a Pagan, you are on the right track, because you are continuing to seek more knowledge, which leads you to search more websites, which introduces you to a greater awareness of other types of Paganism. This is quite normal.
I had the same thing "happen" to me. I started out Wiccan, because that is what I was most familiar with because of what was available in the bookstore for media to read about witchcraft. I didn't know for several years that Wicca and witchcraft are not synonymous. When I was made aware of that through more searching (like you are doing now), I realized I am a witch, and I will always be a witch, but I am not Wiccan. Then I had to begin the search for what I truly "am" in this regard. It took me another 10 years, but I finally found my place as a Welsh faerie shaman, after finally "getting" messages and guidance from Celtic ancestors.
The journey may be long, but every minute and evey bend has a purpose. Do not be too overly distressed at discovering you are changing your understanding of the Mysteries... after all, that is the way spirituality (compared to religion) is *supposed* to work. We are allowed to question our beliefs daily, ascertain we are still on the right track, and if not, find the new parts and integrate them into what we have going on that works for us. If you don't do this, you become stagnant. However, nature abhors stagnancy...
We get nervous when we find ourselves not agreeing completely with what we thought we agreed with yesterday, because change is uncomfortable. Ambiguity is intolerable for most modern Western peoples. But earth-centered belief and loyalty requires acceptance of ambiguity and change whenever it wants to occur. Don't be afraid of it... just find the way to deal with it and keep going. You may find that after you branch out and study other types of Paganism, you truly *are* Wiccan, but you need to refine your understanding of that belief system. That works too. just be patient with yourself and let the journey unfold as it should. Everything always has a way of working out... that is, events may not always have a rhyme or a reason, but they always have a purpose.
Good luck to you!

Wicca is a notoriously individualistic religion, so much so that it may not be accurate to call it a religion at all, but rather a pathway or something. You need to read what you can, talk to the people who will talk to you, and experiment with your own spells and rituals. But do so cautiously.
And remember the Witches' Rede: That which you do returns to you three-fold. If you do good, mazel tov. If you do harm, by the time it is multiplied by three, it could really slam you up side the head big time.
There are lots and lots of pagan and wiccan sites on the Internet. Be sure to have your BS filter on high gain as you research. Don't believe everything you hear or see, and don't even believe that the originator believes it: there are plenty of outright frauds out there.

Wicca is more than likely a modern religion, created by Gardner, and based off of the works and teachings of Crowley's OTO. It was meant to be more accessible to the public, rather than the small elitist group that the OTO catered too.
The Ancient Tradition stuff was thrown in, because, to put it bluntly, some people won't believe in something, or even work with something, unless they think it comes from some ancient source. Tell them you made something up yourself, and it's junk, but if you cloak it in some BS about coming from ancient Sumerian tradition, and bingo, folks just eat it up.

It depends on what trad you're a part of, but they aren't all created equally.
try http://wicca.timerift.net
And congrats! Some people learn from crappy sources and then act just horrible as a result, never acknowledging they might be wrong.
Edit: Well, I hate to say it, but wicca.timerift.net *IS* the way it is. Wicca isn't an ancient religion, and even Gardner didn't claim it was- he thought he was a reconstructionist. Try Ronald Hutton's Triumph of the Moon if Wicca for the rest of us doesn't help.

I don't know if I agree with your faith. But I know what it feels like to be confused, and I think that everyone should be able to have faith in something.
good luck on your search!

My opinion is that people who do witchcraft want to be a god themselves. I personally don't think that is possible. They are just here like everybody else for approximately 50-90 years and become part of the earth again.

Being a wiccan is exactly why you are confused. Basically satan wants you in confusion so you can't see the truth and return to God before he has the opportunity to get you into the same incinerator he has suckered himself into. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
