I reported an assault video to the Corona police in California, it’s a kid(12 years old) being so vicious assaulted that he even threw up from pain. The offender did that just for fun and even in front of many class mates. It happened in a public park, so it’s the police responsibility. The kid didn’t report the offender, but there are many reasons why victims don’t report offenders and fear is just one of the reasons, and he is a minor so his parents or legal guardians must be informed OF THE VIDEOS, informed by the police. And that was all I wanted, for the police to inform the parents, I don’t need to know what the parents decide to do or what happens, but the police just ignored this incident!!!

How can I report the police???
Thank you.

The offender is a class mate, 12 yo too. But that makes no difference.

Thank you for your concern.
All I wanted was for someone to tell me “THE VICTIM’S PARENTS WERE INFORMED ABOUT THE VIDEOS, YES ABOUT THE VIDEOS”. Am I asking too much? Am I asking something illogical, immoral, unlawful, or too difficult to do? I think the police must do that by law, and I think the parents would like to know and that they have the right to know by law. And I’m not just talking about telling them what happened, they have the right to know that their son’s VIDEOS are all over the Internet, and there is a big difference from someone telling you and actually see it happen on VIDEO, yes they should be informed about the VIDEOS.

And is not so important, but the offender’s parents and the twin sisters’ parents should be informed too about the videos. The twin sisters are the offender’s best friends, and they thought it was so funny that they couldn’t resist recording his suffering and humiliation and then they posted the videos on the Internet! How would you feel if you are in such suffering and humiliation, and them you notice someone taking pictures or video recording?

One of my hobbies is to search the web for offenders and report them. So, I’m used to people ignoring incidents and not doing their goddamn jobs/duty, but I have never seen nothing like this before, I’m beginning to think that everyone in Corona is insensitive and retarded!
Or maybe is because of the nature of the incident, what I mean is that many people find it funny, you will understand what I mean as soon as you watch the video, and I hope you are not one of the people that think it’s funny. I know it’s not a murder, but it’s certainly not something to ignore, in my opinion it’s something very serious and of sexual nature, emotionally it stays with you, especially for a 12 year old kid, and especially because it was that serious and in from of all the classmates.

It happened exactly a year ago; the sisters that posted the videos on the Internet were very careful not to get caught so it took me about 10 months to find out were it happened and who they are, and them the authorities just ignored me! I now know that the offender did that before, and she will most probably do it again and most probably IN school, so it’s the school officials’ duty to act. If you show Sharon Martinez the assault videos, and then if you ask her what she would do if that happens to her sons or to someone she loves, what do you think she would say?

I live in corona, interesting I ran into this. Well first off you need to give the police the name of the parents or the kids name or else there is nothing they can do. If they dont do anything it is up to you to inform the parents, there is nothing that the police did wrong unfortunately. Let me tell you, ive live here for almost 12 years...Corona PD is much worse than a lot of PD because they over react on small incidents and dont react at all to larger incidents. Although you can try and contact a superior officer possibly thier liutenant, but then again you would have to know the officer's names. No there is no external department you can contact, normaly police departments have an internal affairs, but I doubt Corona does. If I find something out I can contact you. Public park or not any type of assault or battery is the departments responsibility. Im not aware of the specific laws here in corona but some cities do not give victims choices to not press charges due to the severity, it would be the officer's discresion.By the way which park was it?

Also going on the advice of other posters, think about this...going to the press? If the PD didnt help you out this time and they find out that you report this, (Corona PD is corrupt believe it or not) then they will resent you and wont bother with you in the future. Although I know a lot of the Corona PD so I will find out some numbers and infor for ranking officers and internal affairs if they do have one. Can you try and pull up the officers names and the kids names.

As for the reporting it to the school, not much they can do but report it to the police which you have tried. Since it was not on school property the CNUSD cannot take remedial actions against the students as you are not a parent of this child. Although if you are part of the PTA or PTSA you can bring it up at a school board meeting (bullying in particular) see if maybe there can be something done about this such as citizens on patrol or something. This way Corona doesnt become extremely gang affiliated or violent as it already is. Your best chance for that is contacting Sharon Martinez of the board of trustees, she has grown kids and im sure shed be more than happy to try and help. Her grandkids are my nieces and nephews lol so next time I see her I may possibly bring this up.

P.S. Hope this helps!

While you were there when it happened and were filming it, it may have been clear to you exactly what happened; however, it may not be clear on tape and in order to pursue the matter, the child that was assaulted, his parents, or, if he received medical treatment as a result of the assault, a medical professional come forward to file a Complaint.

As you know the kid who was assaulted was, either you or your parents should contact the parents of the classmate and
show them the video or at least make a copy and send it to them anonymously so they are aware of the situation (you also might want to make a copies and send it to the offender's parents also).

It depends on where you live as to how the police station is structured; you could ask to speak with the commanding officer (smaller cities) or internal affairs (larger cities) to file a complaint.

While the Mayor's office cannot do anything directly, if you send them a copy of the video, cite the need for better on-site security in public parks due to violent attacks, such as the one on the video, especially as you have already tried contacting the police after the fact after taping the assault and they have done nothing to pursue the matter, or even notify the parents of the minor that was assaulted. The mayor's office could extert political pressure for the matter to be pursued and investigated.

While the press/television stations are another option, I would personally not recommend going that route as the poor kid has already been victimized once by bullies and likely to afraid to tell anyone; it would only be victimizing him again to make the tape public.

Hi TL We move incrementally to the current situation. Society used to lock people away who were different. This included those with disabilities and with learning disabilities. The Thatcher regime closed down the remote institutions but did not adequately fund integration into the community. So the vulnerable individual became a target for bullying and hostility much as our black and Asian neighbours used to be. There needs to be a challenge and an education programme so we all accept our individual responsibilities here. It is not just the role of the Police to act but for all of us to stand up and be counted. Best wishes.

The police usually have a department of internal affairs that handles such issues within the police force. Find out how to contact them and report the matter. It's their responsibility to clear up the mess and deal with the incompetent officers who neglected to respond.

Have you tried talking to the school principal or someone on the school board.? Those people should be concerned about violence involving their students. Someone with influence would be more likely to get the police to take this seriously. Tell them that it could happen again on school property and that someone could be seriously hurt if the abusers are not stopped.

Send the video to the press specially to any TV news station. Someone will be interested in taking action.

Heck, forget the cops - report it to the press. They plain flat HATE the cops and are your best bet for getting this atrocity addressed in a way where something positive might come out of it.

There will be an external force that you can report it to.

The cops want to be lazy and will not thank us for ruining their donut breaks. Tread carefully. Just friendly advice, like.
