Tolerant is a funny word, really. It implies that you have something negative to tolerate and, in a sense, that you are somehow "superior" to those you are tolerating. Respectful is a better word, as many answerers have already suggested.

Yes Im tolerant of everyone, but that doesnt necessarily mean I appreciate their bigotry and mockery of me because I happen to be a christian who is following the teachings of Christ. Stick around in R&S and you'll find out just how tolerant believers are when faced with so much disdain from non-believers.

everyone is different and yes most people are tolerant of others and that is what makes us America

I feel that I am very tolerant, as I am the only practicing Christian in my household. Also, most of my friends are not Christians. I don't allow them to influence me, but I love them despite our differences.

the problem of society stems from ignorance. if we made more of an effort to understand one another, there would be no misunderstandings and needless hatred. This is how I try to lead my life, with understanding and tolerance instead of senseless violence and hatred.
