Well let's see. You, mesndblues@sbcglobal.net, have asked a total of 5 climate changes questions on this board so far, and after scanning every single one of the answers, I find: Not One Verbal Assault On You.

But strictly speaking, that's not a lie, since you also haven't actually cited anything that contradicts Al Gore.

And at the same time, other questions you've asked have called Democrats traitors and guilty of sedition. So who's the verbal assaulter here? Methinks it's you.

While I'll agree that people should be able to have civil conversations concerning climate change and global warming, the fact that you use the word "stupid" when referring to An Unfortunate Truth, leads me to believe perhaps you aren't as objective and/or respectful when presenting your point of view.

Often the amount of respect is in direct relationship to the amount we give. Furthermore, many people on both sides of this fence, or any big issue for that matter, often leave common courtesy and manners on the sideline, eroding their credibility.

If you know that you're not going to have a civil conversation about something, perhaps you could just say "I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree", rather than having a futile argument with both sides walking away with a bad taste in their mouth.

It may just be because I'm just now starting to stick my neck out and promote recycling and green thinking outside of my own home, but I haven't been hung out to dry or told that I'm stupid (not to my face anyway). However, when I started collectin recycleables at work, a LOT of people were very cynical and teased me alot, calling me a child and whatnot.
But through all those macho and nonchalant gestures I know there were a few who don't have the tenacity or courage to start something themselves, but they will support it from the shadows, so to speak.
what people say and what they do, are often two different things, in any subject.

See that's why you're getting verbally abused, because you're verbally abusive. "stupid little slide show." That is an abusive statement.

Speak with respect and you'll be spoken to with respect.

Be abusive, you'll get abused.

You can have the best argument in the world, but people won't listen if you're a jerk. So speak nicely, and respectfully, instead of just putting people down. Put down the science with your own facts, don't put down the people.

I refuse to listen to anyone that bashes scientists because their own science is weak. You must go after the facts, not the people.

And again, do it with respect.

people react to you out of your ignorance. i accept all peoples views and opinions. but Al gore isnt running the show on climate change and global warming which every skeptic references every single time they comment about the issue. if you cant see the earth and climate are changing then you are a moron. research the topic of global warming before you post questions and people most likely wont assail you. when a knowledgeable person presents facts that seem intelligent or true it does prove a point and get people to think. i dont see anything in your question that lays out why you feel the way you do or supporting your arguement against climate change or global warming. many of the skeptics speak about the issue without knowing anything about it, many feel it only relates to "warmer temperatures" which isnt true at all. people are entitled to beliefs but it is important to be intelligent about it. these people are presenting action, action to be responsible citizens fed up with inefficient automobiles running on oil and a politically charged economy that doesnt seek to enhance efficiency in any industry. even if humans dont affect global warming like so many of you skeptics who listen to paid bush administration scientists like to believe, why not try to be more efficient and cut emissions to see what happens? there are hundreds of other countries that obviously know the facts on global warming and pollution and have signed climate agreements to cut back on pollutants and slow effects of climate change and warming. i am not saying there is a doomsday but what is in the harm of becoming a more efficient socially responsible society that cuts pollution and works in conjunction with the earth.

I sometimes get annoyed when people question global warming because they're almost always misinformed and refuse to listen to the facts, saying things like "Al Gore's stupid little slide show."

I'm more than happy to explain the science behind global warming, but "skeptics" are rarely interested in listening. They simply don't believe that global warming exists or that humans could have caused it, usually because of "common sense" completely ignoring the scientific evidence. It's quite frustrating when people are thick-skulled about such a crucial issue, and I can understand why people would become irritated. My solution is simply to let people believe what they want to believe if they're not interested in listening to the facts.

Think about this - experts in climatology know a hell of a lot more than you do about global warming, and over 90% of them agree that the vast majority of the recent global warming has been caused by humans. It's pretty hard to argue against such a high level of concensus among the scientific experts.

I know the feeling, in class I was saying that we were being brainwashed because we were never told that the Earth's temperature is never constant, the teachers made it seem as if it's only started to get warm in the past few years, and people started saying I was an attention seeker, rather harshly may I add.

But that reaction proves their theory is weak. Ask a scientist about evolution and say you believe in Creationism and they'll calmly explain it to you, ask an environmentalist about global warming and they'll scream THERE'S LOADS OF PROOF!

All the time - the global warming skeptics don't like being proved wrong and made to look stupid. They seem to forget that they have no evidence on their 'side' and that all the evidence is on the 'side' of the global warming proponents.

Time and time again I've asked them to provide any scientific evidence to support their claims - any at all - and it's never been forthcoming, just the usual references to the same old discredited websites, media reports and the like, none of which are written by anyone with first hand knolwedge of climate.

In school they taught us that most of the time you receive the reaction that you instigate by your own form of communication.

if you are going to start off communication being insulting and belligerent, don't expect NOT to receive the same in return.

I notice that it works the other way around for me. When ever I tell about global warming people cuss me out.
