Dark chocolate is a potent antioxidant and can lower blood pressure so you should eat dark chocolate but eat it sparingly. Just like anything else.......too much of any one thing isn't good for you. Also if you don't care for dark chocolate, read about CocoaVia® which combines great-tasting milk chocolate with all the heart-healthy benefits of dark chocolate.

Chocolate in it's natural state is not bad for you unless you have some type of allergy. Chocolate comes from the cacao bean and does contain caffeine, but many health professionals agree that some caffeine is actually good for you as it will increase your metabolism. Unfortunately, too much caffeine will decrease your metabolism. That can be a bit tricky. When I first started dieting, I cut out all forms of caffeine for about 2 weeks and then gradually added it back.

Chocolate also contains antioxidants as mentioned, but that is the higher quality or higher cocoa content chocolates - meaning dark, very dark. Chocolate's biggest problem for us dieters is that the chocolate candy, especially milk and white forms, are very high in sugar - a big no-no.

Get the darkest chocolate you can find. It will still have sugar, but the secret is that a little goes a long way. Dark chocolate is satisfying. You can eat a small piece or two, and wait about 5 minutes. You will find, in most cases, that your craving has been satisfied, with no real harm done.

The high sugar content in milk chocolate will only increase your cravings, thus you never (or I should say "I never") feel satisfied until you have stuffed yourself and are sitting in utter guilt and despair at having caved once again.

Cheers.

You remind me of me!! I'm am 100% CHOCOHOLIC!!!
It's ok to enjoy chocolate in moderation, but too much is obviously not good for the waistline! As long as u exercise regularly there is no reason why u can't enjoy the beautiful stuff!! I get really bad cravings for chocolate too. Try dark chocolate, it's more satisfying so u will eat less of it.

Chocolate is not a health food. Some varieties, like dark chocolate are better for you but, still not great. However, if you deprive yourself, you will be more likely to eat too much chocolate later. I would have a little chocolate when you are craving it but, don't over do it. congrats on your diet and exercise routine as well, hope everything goes well for you.

Have a little chocolate. As a fellow chocoholic, I've discovered that having a piece of chocolate (like ONE of those bite-size candy bar things, or a Hershey kiss or 2) once or twice a day helps keep the chocolate cravings at bay. If you try to give it up altogether, it starts to consume your thoughts and then you end up up to your eyeballs in a vat of Ben & Jerry's. Bad scene. Just have a LITTLE every day. It helps.

dark chocolate is better for you than milk chocolate, but neither is good for you. go ahead and eat a little bit, like a fun size bag of m&m's or a couple of kisses. it won't hurt your diet if you make sure to count the calories. it's better to indulge the craving a little than to binge later. if you let the chocolate melt in your mouth, it will last longer.

Maybe there is not much you can do if you are a hard core chocoholic (try a cocoa drink) ... and check out how much of a chocoholic you are by doing this quiz http://www.chocolatebake.com/chocoholicquiz.html

You can stave off the craving by eating something else like pineapple which is very sweet and won't affect your weight. Any fruit is a good alternative. See it as a temporary replacement until you have completed your diet and can eat normally again. I admit I have used coffee like this.

dark chocolate is actually good for you (more than 70% cocoa) - everything in moderation, have a little peace a day if you want to. put it in freezer - that way it last a little longer in your mouth, doesnt melt that fast.
