'Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with signs that you can see; people will not say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."' Luke 17:20-21
The Pharisees, like most people, expected a king in the ordinary, earthly sense, one who would be good for the Jews, like David and Solomon, one who would get rid of the Romans especially. A large crowd once even tried to make Jesus king. But 'the kingdom of God' is nothing like that. Israel had kings to rule them, but they did not do much good. 'The kingdom of God' means the rule of God in the mind of the Christian, who applies the meaning of Jesus' cross in all moral decisions. It means that Jesus is 'the boss' in the life of the Christian.
> And is the fire of hell real or just symbolism for a persons state of mind with no connection to God?
'Hell fire' is almost certainly a spiritual condition which can be compared to fire when applied to a physical body- except that Jesus said that it is worse than what can happen to the body. Hell is certainly not unconnected with God, because everyone will be conscious of God's presence in the afterlife. It may be that God's presence is what creates hell for those who are not reconciled to him at death- those who have had opportunity to be reconciled, that is.

the full universe is contained interior. And No - heaven would not come to you once you die. The regulation of reason and result seems after that. in basic terms whilst there are actually not to any extent further effects by using previous motives - then the Ego and character are ineffective. the concern right it fairly is that it desires a difficulty (Ego, character) to renowned an merchandise "heaven". A suspended Ego and/or character is incapable of taking part in what grow to be formerly the objective. In different words - "heaven" can never be enjoyed! What the church preaches is a lie and deception.

Hell's fires have been reported by those who have visited and came back to tell about it , just like those who have had visions or dreams about heaven. There are plenty of books written by channels who can describe both. It is highly possible that this what Jesus meant when he said the kingdom of God is within. But I think this statement was made to confirm that we all have the spirit of God within us which is eternal. He said when you pray, go within. " Go to you room and pray in private" It is said that the body is the temple of God. If you meditate and go within, if you let it go will take you to the temple of God in your imagination. Other wise you will just have to trust that your spirit will travel to the temple after you die. You certainly don't have a way to physically travel there, so go there mentally within.
Going to a plane that is called the astral plane. The kingdom of God has many mansions as Jesus put it. The astral plane is the lowest. The ethers is between worlds. Each plane has seven levels or more. There are 365 planes. So that is a lot of houses. The lowest level of the astral plane we could compare to hell if you were to describe it. I'm sure you would not like to go there. You could call it Hell.
As you sew, so shall you reap. Like attracts like, Jesus said to build up your treasures in heaven. What you do in this life determines where you go after death. Like attracts like.
Be Good and attract good when you go.

Scripture has to be understood in the context of how it is written. Please give a reference, so the context can be understood.
The Pharisees asked when God's Kingdom would come, not knowing that it had already arrived. The Kingdom of God is not like an earthly Kingdom with geographical boundaries. Instead , it begins with the work of God's Spirit in people's lives and in relationships. We must resist looking to institutions or programs for evidence of the progress of God's Kingdom Instead we should look for what God is doing in people's hearts.

God has placed a fragment of himself in all humans.
It is located in the heart.
This tiny fragment, not detectable by any human device is called the "Soul".
Heaven and hell are within man.
It is mans duty to go within and root out the evil and leave the good undisturbed.
If this is accomplished then mans heart will be turned toward God and not on the desires of the world.
This is mans true journey.
If man can do this it would be a beautiful event in mans life.

The kingom of heaven is within us means that God has given us the Spirit of truth to teach us what we need to know. When what we believe is consistent with what Jesus did we feel a very strong connection, When what we believe is not consistent with what Jesus said we experience confusion. Be smart, follow the light within.

God's kingdom and work in the most powerful sense is in the quiet work in people who have saving faith. God works invisibly in a sense in their midst, but nonetheless a reality.
It isn't a case where you can point to a throne and a conquering army as God is indeed on the throne and there are armies of angels and believers fighting on their knees.

the fires of hell are very real...and when JESU says the kingdom of heaven is within...HE means that you cannot find it by seeking outside yourself for it. search for JESUS and GOD within your heart...JESUS stands at the door of your heart knocking. GOD says to read HIS wrod daily and if you love HIM, keep HIS commandments. to love is to obey. seek ye first the kingdom of GOD and HIS righteousness, and all these (your needs)things shall be added unto you. read revelation to learn about the fires of hell.

This manner of life we have within us, that is to say, we have it within us when we desire and will it. We do not need to wait a long time, or until our departure from this life; instead, faith and a God-pleasing life which accompanies faith are very near us.
Hell is a real, literal place, in which souls are seperated from God for eterntiy.
