Legally, I would say 18...that's the age we can vote are considered of legal age. A lot of parents support their children longer than that because of College. I know that my husband and me will support our children and let them live in our home until they are done with College.

In the USA, I believe the legal age is 18 years old. Most parents support their kids beyond this age, especially if they are in college, but it's the choice of the parent.

Until you are 18 years of age or emancipate yourself. That means if you are 16 and "run away" your parents no longer have to support you, if you are 16 and get married your parents no longer have to support you, if you are 16 and go to court to become emancipated your parents no longer have to support you.

in michigan... til 18 unless the child still hasn't graduated (high school), in that case 19 1/2. although, they have to be expected to graduate. in other words, no going to school till 19 1/2 and earning all f's just to keep the support coming in. been down this road personally. and no, neither parent is required to pay for college.
