I'm a 18 year old girl considering joining the Marines, but I have heard that girls have to shave their hair off. Is that true?!?

no girls don't have to shave their head. they do however have to have it a certain length. i don't know if this information will help you, but i hope it does.
about halfway down the page, is a section about women that serve in the us military, and corresponding photos. maybe the pictures can give you an idea about how short your hair will be.

This is false information. Females DO NOT get their heads shaved, only men!!! Congratulations on joining the USMC Semper Fi(Always Faithful)!

No, girls do not have to shave their heads. There are specific guidelines for your hair but it is not shaved off.
Short or no hair for men is for sanitary reasons. The hair can attract and hold a lot of dirt and germs.

No, girls have to have shorter hair through basic training, but you don't have to shave your head. The reason behind having the shorter hair, is due to cleanliness from being in the field.

Don't know about the hair (when I joined the Navy 15 years ago, it had to be cut to chin-length), but congrats on your brave decision to join! Semper Fi!
