Here is the story:
There is this one girl, Olivia, who has been in love with this guy Coleman for like ever (1-3 years). She is always "angry" at him but gets over it and LOVES him again. I'm serious she says she LOVES him. BUT Coleman has said that he will never like her. She can be really mean to me for NO reason at all but we aren't mad at each other for long. She isn't much of a friend but I still consider her a friend. Anyways, Coleman asked me out and I said yes because I do like him but I almost said no because I didn't want to hurt her. Coleman and I are currently going out. Olivia has a "boyfriend" on My Space that is on drugs but she wrote a letter to me saying: I love Coleman but I want you to go out with him and see what a beautiful person he is. To me it feels like she is saying: "YES go out with him" and "You're evil for slowly killing me" at the same time. She has written songs too! I feel really bad but I really like him. Should I continue to go out with him or end it?

Olivia seems to be after a person who may be unattainable, and it's unclear as to whether or not her anger is irrational or if Coleman doesn't treat her as he perhaps should. Either way, the relationship between them isn't solid. You can be loyal Olivia, but force Coleman into considering a relationship he's less comfortable with, or you can risk betraying Olivia, by putting yourself first. I don't want to leave you hanging, so I suggest going with Coleman and letting Olivia know you don't mean to hurt her. You and Coleman seem more interested in each other, and Coleman is apparently more confident in what he wants. A major issue is why Olivia gets mad. I hope she's not the possessive jealous type. You're not evil. You have the right to make Coleman happy and be happy with him, and he prefers you.

Its kinda complicated situation now for you.
Its clear that "Coleman has said that he will never like her". but Olivia, ur friend likes him. Since she has been trying to get Coleman for 3 years and he had rejected her.
Since you like Coleman and he has asked you out, theres nothing wrong. You can go ahead and be Coleman' s gf.
You need to sacrifice one thing here. Its either your friendship with Olivia to have Coleman as bf or sacrifice Coleman to have Olivia as a friend. You have to decide as you know both well and you know ur needs better.
What ever Olivia has said it looks like shes just jealous about you dating Coleman...
So you have to choose between any one soon!

It sounds to me as though Olivia has a way of 'control' over you, or people in general. It is just a way to manipulate you. If you believe in your heart that you have a right to be with Coleman, then by all means be with him! Do not let her manipulate you with her anger causing fear inside of you. Live life by your OWN feelings...not hers!

That doesn't seem very healthy. If you continue to go out with him, you can only hope that Olivia will get over it. If she really is the psycho you talk of, she may chase you guys down forever. I don't know the situation well enough to choose for you, but based on your story, I'd end it. e

You need to decide what is more important, your friendship with Olivia or your desire to go out with Coleman.. Based upon that, you should decide what to do.

i WOULD NEVER RISK TO LOSE A VERY GOOD FRIENDSHIP FOR A GIRL , BUT IN YOUR CASE YOU SHOULD THINK BETTER WHAT IS UR RELATIONSHIP WITH OLIVIA AND IF U REALLY CARE ABOUT HERE AND IF SHE IS REALLY A FRIENDS FOR YOU(WICH SEEMS IS NOT) IF THE ANSWER IS YES IT IS DONT GO IF THE ANSWER IS NO I DONT CARE A LOT OR IF I LOSE IT ILL BE OK THEN GO OUT WITH THE GUY .MY ADVICE : GO OUT WITH HIM , OLIVIA DOESNT SEEMS TOO MUCH TO BE UR FRIEND

I say stay with him for alittle longer and see if he is the person for you and if you start to love him stay with him. I mean she did say go ahead and date him so you sould just see if you like it before you go hurting another person. If you are filled with to much guilt that you cant even enjoy time with him then mabye you sould end it.

if u like him, then go out with him, it might hurt ur friend but she will get over it. just give her space and try talking. tell her u like colemen, but u dont feel right because u like him. follow ur heart, every choice opens a door, so make sure the choice is right
