My computer is seriously chugging lately, and all I have is an outdated version of Norton, so I'm sure I'm due for some better A/V software with ad/spyware busting abilities. But I'm not into paying 70$ just to RENEW Norton, when I'm sure there are better, less expensive (or free???) programs out there.

For anti-virus software AVG works very well and it is free.

For spyware removal I like both Spybot and Adaware. Both of these are free and work very well. Be sure to download Adaware from Grisoft.
