Father Guido- and what is it that Amish people believe in again? Oh yes, God. And I don't recall any commandment about work or play on Fri. or Sat night. Hmmm.
I see alot of people assuming that they know me. There's alot of MANMADE religious B**LS**T out there(obviously on both ends of the issue), and just the fact that you presume to know ME, shows how shallow you are. You know what assuming is good for, right?

majinjeff...- I WISH that they would let me give out the punishment for rape, child molestation, and murder in cold blood. They would have 3 days to make peace with their maker, and then they would die. There was a comedian I heard once, who said ," I'll pay for the crazys who poop in the corner and eat crayons, but I WON'T pay for the ones who walk into a school and blow kids away. My sentiments exactly.

I'm talking the general principals of peace and goodness here. Work with me a little!

The Ten Commandments were laws laid down by Moses. Obviously, it would be a better world if everyone followed the law.

No.

All societies that have demanded loyalty to one particular god, or no god, have become barbaric disasters, whether North Korea, Iran or Judea.

Coveting is the basis of capitalism. Don't like it? Move to Afghanistan or become Amish.

No work or play on Friday night or Saturday? Ridiculous, and it has never been practiced by Christians since the Jerusalem Church disappeared. And it has never been practiced by you.

Most of the rest are common to all societies that managed to move beyond tribal existence. Your God never visited China, but they didn't need missionaries to explain they should have laws against murder.

Adultery? It's a civil issue, but there are no legal penalties. Do you really think we should go back to stoning?

Notice that violent crimes like rape don't make the top ten? They weren't considered a big deal unless the woman was married, and then she was as likely to be put to death as her rapist. If she was unmarried, she had to marry her rapist.

P.S. No mention of work or play?

That is hilarious. You don't even know what the word Sabbath means but you think we should all observe it.

Your ignorance is appalling.

Hello and yes it would but thats not the reason to keep the commandments "IF" you Love me [then] keep my commandments, by the way did you know that there are TEN commandments not nine, the fourth one says that we are to keep The "seventh" day as The Sabbath, in Gen.1 evening and morning were the first day, evening and morning were the second day, not only is 24 hours the first day of creation but its how God tells time, and in Gen.2 we understand God created the Seventh Day Sabbath, which is from sundown Friday until Sundown Saturday, find out more free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

No, because there are commandments that go against my beliefs, like having no other gods.

Though there are a few in there that I think we all are sort of born with. Our morals aren't always related to the ten commandments.

Actually I just looked them up and there is only 3 that are good for everyone.

I am an atheist, and I do not think it would be a good idea if everyone lived by the ten commandments. I especially dislike the first commandment....I am the lord thy god, and thou shalt have no other gods beside me.

It is a singularly arrogant thought to think that the world would be better if everyone believed the same thing you do.

i live against it everyday.
except for the murder part

but for example.
if someone raped or killed my wife. i would toture this person for days, before i killed them. and enjoy it.

my good and evil, my love and hate are on an equal balance
i love my wife truely. therefore i would truely hate this person.
this person would experience all pain i could give and it would equal all the pleasure i have given to my wife

1 i am my own god
2 god damnit
3 i work everyday
4 my parents lied to me about santa easter bunny god and jesus i dont honor liars
5 murder was explained
6 i never cheated on my wife but our relationship started from cheating on my exGF
7 would if i was starving and needed to steal to just to live i would steal to keep myself alive
8 everyones guilty in my eyes
9 well i do believe im doing much better then my neighbors but if i needed to
10 if shes hot enough

What a goof. Why not admit that you are full of it? Would the world be better merely because of the first commandment. The others were not original anyway. What a loser.

If you exclude the ones involving worshiping only that particular god, most of them are just common sense anyways and can be covered by "the golden rule" - that doesn't make it the only valid religion though, most "good" religions teach the same thing, regardless of how we skew the message....

No, because I really do not see how "Keep the Sabbath holy" and "Do not make any idols" could positively benefit society.

The commandments of "Do not murder", "Do not steal", "Do not lie" etc... are common civilised behaviour that is expected of the human race, religion or no religion.

I wasn't aware anyone advocated stealing, murdering and lying

however please explain why you think an non christian should be forced to live by:

I am the Lord your God
Thou shalt have no other gods before me
Thou shalt not make for yourself an idol
Thou shalt not make wrongful use of the name of your God
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife
thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house
