I didn't file income tax for 2005-2006. How do I get a confirmation for this from IRS?

The link below is IRS form 4506-T. It is used to request a tax transcript (free of charge). Line 7 is to request a Verification of Nonfiling, which is proof from the IRS that you did not file a return for the year. I am assuming that you were not required to file.

If you know you did not file, why do you need a confirmation of that from the IRS?
Just go ahead and file now. The IRS will advise you of the interest you owe.
